It sounds perfect for a trial into MC and ideal if money is an issue! I'd be combining both!
Don't be suprised if a request for instructions comes your way! I'll wait until 2012 though!
(Funny you mention biking, I had a VERY strange package containing bike cabling arrive in work today by courier.... God knows who they were for or where they came from! )
I use Bepanthen also, it works very well, though I am not keen on the fragrance. I only use it once every now and then when things start to get too tender. My goal is to not need anything at all, so I am aiming at toughening the area up, since I am permanently locked 24/7 for the rest of my life.

If you happen to buy silicone oil, which is sold for use with latex, there are normally two different qualities; "dressing aid" and "shine". Dressing aid is the thinnest, shine is thick but not sticky. For use with chastity devices I recommend "shine".
Both will stay on for a long periode of time and will not interact with water or sweat. I usually use lube once a day.
Current chastity device: Steelworxx Revenge.
Also owns: CB 6000.
The stuff I use is called Silicoderm F made by Bayer. It's silicon-based and recommended for skin protection and baby care. Works pretty well. I first heard about it from one of the belt makers in Germany years ago. He recommended it for use with his full belts, but it works with chastity cages equally well. Certainly *much* better than petroleum jelly / Vaseline. The smell is OK, and it's not as messy as petroleum jelly. I also put a very thin coat on the inside of the tube when I put it on.
Bepanthen is also quite nice. I only use it when there's "something wrong" like a rash or something though.
