Gateway messages

The forum has been great since I joined at the beginning of the month, but just the last 2 days there's been a lot of "Gateway timeout" and "Bad Gateway" messages and I've had to wait ages to get back in.

What's happened?

Is it being fixed?

I hope whatever is causing it is temporary and we can get back to normal.

For the past couple of months, there has been a massive spambot attack on the servers. I'm deleting a dozen or two fake accounts every day, and this is after blocking dozens and dozens of fake domains.

They aren't after just this site, they're after any site on the severs that we use. I expect that eventually they will get tired and move onto other targets.

I hope they do get tired and move on.
Even better than moving on would be if they became targets themselves and got caught out somehow.
I don't know what they get out of it but they deserve no sympathy. Grrrr.

Also, these spambot things happen in waves, and after almost a week, it looks like they are moving on to other pastures.
