The first is a Chinese classic, easily ordered with three rings at a low price. Lets you experiment with ring sizes, malleable enough to adjust the gap a bit. Cage is too big, I dangle about in it about a quarter inch short of the end, and mine is compressed about a half inch in length after pushing the rings in. Chrome plated metal that developed rust problems fast. It is quite heavy, which can makes nights long as this thing swings around each time you roll over. Underwear choice can be important! Smallest, 40mm, ring was the best fit to avoid balls slipping out and hot spots at the base of my penis at the 11:00 and 1:00 o'clock positions.
The second has a very nice, but very small cage. The cage is smooth and appears to be stainless steel, it passes my magnet test and there is no sign of rust. Lightweight and fits easily under clothes. I'm really crammed into the cage, a small increase in interior diameter and length is probably justified. The cage end is a great design, and with my penis slit pushed up against the end, I can pee standing up. The ring design combined with the way the cage rings have curves and bends is ridiculous. You'd have to have golf balls in your scrotum to keep from pulling through. I was able to make the cage sort of work with a ring I modified from device #1.
Number three is on order mostly to get a ring that will hopefully work with device #2. I've admired the cage on this as likely stainless, and a simple modified Jailbird design that should allow easy hygiene maintenance. But, me thinks the cage will be as big as device 1.
Some day I'd like to go with a Contender or a MM JailBird, but I'm not sure if my experience will translate well. One thing for sure, fit, comfort, night erections, etc., are hugely dependent on design, dimensions, and weight of the device.

If you have a moment, would you be willing to share the measurements you gave to MCN (the Contender) maker. Since your Chinese experience is similar to mine, I'm curious as to how you translated that to the Contender. Below are the measurement options from MCN's website:

My base ring was 1.75". I had several cages with this diameter and had been able to wear a long time, so I went with that. No regrets. Might be able to go smaller, if my balls would cooperate, but they don't.
Went oval to try it, but ended up with round.
My penis is tapered when flaccid, smaller at the end, so I used the widest spot where the cage would go to get a measurement. 1-3/8". Could have gone 1-1/4", but this has worked fine,
Length varied from 2.75 - 3" when flaccid, so went with 2.75". Tip just touches all the time with that.
Went 3/8" gap, which as been fine. No escapes.
I use the stocking method to get in and some baby oil gel on the balls to put on the ring.

The 1.75 ring produced hot spots on the base of my penis at the 11:00 and 1:00 positions. Too much movement, but the heavy cage may also have been the culprit. The 1.5 certainly holds things in a better position with less movement, but my right nut is almost too big to get through the ring by itself. I might move the ring up an 8th with a custom.
The big cage I have is 1-3/8ths inside, and the small is 1-1/8th. They are too big and too small respectively. So the 1-1/4 is probably right on.
Length is a bear to measure. Some days my average can be about two and half (very shriveled) and others it can be three and a half. My existing cages provide some indication of where too long and too short is, I'll probably have to blend the numbers and hope it comes out right.
