Sizing ring, quick question

I'm thinking about getting my jail bird resized and bought a set of sizing rings from Mature Metal. I've found what I think is the tightest comfortable fit (which still allows me to squeeze a finger in). I've worn it for 24 hours just to make sure.

While it's perfectly comfortable during the day, I was woken several times in the night with a dull ache in my balls whenever I got erect (just like the ache you get when you get hit in the balls). Does mean the ring is too tight? I am not wearing a cage, just the ring, so obviously that would prevent an erection and perhaps minimise the discomfort.

Having some aching from nocturnal erections is not unusual for me.
