Hello all,
I am locked 24/7 in a stainless steel device with no access to the keys. (At this point I would normally include a link to a picture of the device in question so people can see what I'm talking about - but I don't know if that would contravene the forum rules - the picture would be from the vendor's site and I don't want to be thought of as spamming) [Mods - would that be acceptable?].
The device is very comfortable and for much of the time I forget I'm wearing it. However, at a point - usually about 3-4 weeks in - I develop a painful irritation (burning sensation) underneath my testicles. This is not constant, and when the irritation leaves the device is very comfortable, when the irritation returns it is almost unbearable.
On previous occasions I have had to remove the device for unrelated reasons (upcoming flight, routine doctor's appointment etc) at just about the 4 week mark (purely coincidentally). If that had not been the case however I would have had to ask my Wife to release me, so uncomfortable had it become.
On this occasion however there is no such reason for release. Today (Sat 3 Oct) marks 5 weeks locked.
I have two questions of the assembled experience here:
1) What can I do to prevent this altogether?
2) How best to treat the soreness?
I have tried using baby oil on the area between the ring an the scrotum (my thinking being that it could be friction that causes the soreness).
I have tried using talcum powder after showering (my thinking being the soreness is being caused by the skin not being properly dry).
I have tried using rubbing alcohol (surgical spirit) on the affected area (my thinking being that perhaps I can toughen up the skin).
I have tried using Sudocrem (a cream used here in the UK for nappy rash (my thinking being that - well, it works for babies' bottoms!).
All of the above do provide short-term relief, but still the symptoms persist...
I do hope someone can help me. Thanks in advance...
SteveT

Re: Unpleasant soreness
For me (IMHO but YMMV) a drop of silicone lube after showering in the morning and before going to bed has solved all soreness and irritation problems. My favorite is JO Premium.
Don't use water based lube for long term applications because most contain glycerine, which might promote yeast infections...

Re: Unpleasant soreness
Hmmm thanks! I'll try that (I don't recall seeing JO in the UK, but I'll try to find an equivalent).
Tell me, does the soreness eventually go away for good, or do you have to keep applying this ad infinitum?
Thanks again.

Re: Unpleasant soreness
I googled 'JO' and it seems it is available in the UK

Re: Unpleasant soreness
Thanks - I'll keep looking.
I have to say however, yesterday marked the 5-week milestone. For the last two days I have had almost no discomfort whatsoever. Could it be that I have "got through it"? (I hope I'm not speaking too soon!).
What is the collected wisdom of the more experienced members of this forum? Does this type of soreness eventually go away completely if you persist long enough?

Re: Unpleasant soreness
Once in a while, for a day or three, I'll get some soreness/burn at the bottom of the ring area. I haven't determined if it is caused by an intense erection attempt, hair being pulled or skin being 'folded'...or some combination of those. But, for the most part, there is no problem.SteveT wrote:Thanks - I'll keep looking.

My ring is wider and fatter than most, being a hinged CB-3000 ring that was mended with JB Weld after the hinge area cracked and broke. It's an ugly-looking patch job, but it works.
A thinner/smaller ring might be different, but I couldn't say for sure at this point.
