A080 Base Ring

Post by dire »

Hello all!

I was wondering if anyone here could help me. We have had a few different devices and finally settled on this A080 device (although a bit small I like that it doesn't show much of any bulge).

However the base ring definitely starts to cut in a bit after a while of wearing. I was wondering if anyone knew of a round base ring that would fit this device rather than the flat one that comes with it.

That's my original cage. Yes, the base ring is a bit annoying. You can grind the edges down to make them rounder. I'm not aware of any replacements. You may also want to order another with a larger base ring.

I have this device. Get some silicone tubing and force it over the entire base ring, trimming it just where it presses together at the top.

This of course reduces the inside diameter of the ring, the amount depending on the thickness of the tubing, so you could end up needing another ring.

My experience is that anything that adds friction will cause more irritation. In my opinion, the best thing about the steel is that it lets the skin under it move. In fact, I have read reviews of the Chinese stainless cages that claimed the base ring was more comfortable without the silicone tubing that comes with it and keeps you from being pinched by the hinge.

Since I had the same problem with the same product, I don't have any easy fixes. My solution was to order a Jail Bird. That, while expensive, absolutely solved the problem of irritation. It also solved the "problem" of unauthorized erections.

Last time I used salvaged stuff from a plumbing part. This time I have ordered 8mm internal diameter stuff. I'll let you know if it works.

Yes. Silicone will increase the friction. However the corners on the ring, though smooth, dig in horribly. So it's balancing one thing against another.

I've Frankensteined a couple of Chinese cages, the stainless welds nicely. I usually use ER312 to weld it back together.
I like the one piece ring, with the stem with flattened sides. I just cut the receivers off the cages and then weld it onto the new cage.. A little grinding, a little buffing and Presto !
I do like the look of that cage, might be my next project.
