I'm about to purchase a Mature Metal Jail Bird and am on the fence regarding using a standard/conventional padlock, a security screw, or both. Due to the type of work I do, wearing the device while working is not an option, however I do wear my device on the way home. That being said a standard/conventional padlock is necessary, unless my wife/KH would leave me with the key to the security screw, which would obviously defeat the purpose. However, using the security screw while at home is appealing and we would like to have the choice. So I emailed Mature Metal and asked about using both locking methods and I was told it would be easy to have a second hole added to the locking post, one for a padlock and one for a security screw. But I was also informed by Mature Metal that I could use the threaded hole with a padlock and the threads would not be affected/damaged.
Does anybody here have both locking options on their Mature Metal device? If so, what are your experiences? Does anybody have only the threaded security screw hole and use it with a padlock? Any damage to the threads?
I would greatly appreciate any information. Thank you!

Re: Mature Metal - Standard Lock and Security Screw?
I have a Jail Bird and a Watchful Mistress and both of them have the security screw and a second hole so that a plastic security tag can be used. We started off using the security screw but found for our lifestyle we prefer the padlock. For about 2 years now we have been using the padlock in the screw hole without any damage being done to the threads. I know this because just this weekend I was allowed out for some long awaited PIV and just out of curiosity I tried the security screw in the threaded hole and it went right in without any problems.
IMO, get both.
BTW, hop on over to the "Hello World" thread and tell us a little bit about yourself.

Totally worth it to get the security screw option! Once you have it you can use the screw or lock in the same hole. If hubby ever had to put on his device and I'm not around with the screw key, we use the lock. When we got ours Queens Keep we already had the screw so we just asked William to thread the post so we had the choice to use either.
I love not having the lock scratch my crotch/face/whatever when I'm playing with hubby in his cage.

Re: Mature Metal - Standard Lock and Security Screw?
We have the security screw and the second hole for the plastic lock. LRC didn't like the insecurity of me learning to be a lock picker. LRC also likes the security screw because she doesn't liked getting jabbed with the padlock when it bed.
Most of the time I have the screw and plastic lock in place. LRC likes this because in an emergency it would be easy for me to remove. The plastic lock is 100% insurance that it wasn't removed. She keeps the number recorded in her phone.
When she wants to make me think there may be a chance there's going to be a tease session the screw will come out and the plastic lock left in place. Then if she decides to tease it's easy to remove.
Sometimes for a change the padlock will be placed on. This is usually on vacations when the opportunity for frequent removal is most likely to occur. The padlock always fits and hasn't done any damage to the screw threads.
If you think you may ever want to try the security screw I would recommend you get it.

I like the idea of the second hole for the plastic lock. Just to be sure are you talking about a plastic seal or actual lock. I have seen one time use plastic locks/seals and would like to see about getting mine setup for that. And where did you get a plastic lock that fits snug? Seems most are too small and allow the cage to rotate in place.

Re: Mature Metal - Standard Lock and Security Screw?
My JB has the security screw option, but my wife really likes the look of the lock....and the finality of hearing it snap shut. Using the padlock has done nothing to damage the screw threads. I too prefer the lock, because on the rare occasion she wants me out of the cage, she wants it off NOW. Fumbling around with the security screw key has cost me several opportunities to enjoy an orgasm....while the lock is much easier to get off (as well as to assist in lining up the collet and stud holes for 're-caging'). When you haven't cum for a couple of months your manual dexterity suffers a bit!
If I ordered another MM device I don't think I'd bother with the security screw option....but I know my KH would again insist on a healthy assortment of anti-pullout studs....she enjoys inflicting punishment.

We also have two holes (security screw & padlock) on our jailbird. At first, we only used the security screw. Now, we only use the lock. It is so much easier and she likes to click it shut.
I would be interested in a way to make the disposable locks work. I tried one once, but it allowed the cage to rotate too much.

The padlock or screw is what secures the cage in place. The plastic lock just ensures that the device wasn't slid off the post.CuriousGeorge51 wrote:I like the idea of the second hole for the plastic lock. There are two kinds of plastic locks. I have found the thin version breaks to easy. We use the thick version.

Can you use the thick version with a Jailbird? As long as it fits snug through the hole and does not allow the cage to rotate like the thin version does.

On both styles, the piece of the plastic lock that goes through the hole of the device, will fit the hole The thick is round and the thin is rectangular. The plastic used for the thin one is brittle and breaks easy. The thick ones are a different material and are more flexible.CuriousGeorge51 wrote:Can you use the thick version with a Jailbird? I think you missed my statement before, I'll repeat; "The padlock or screw is what secures the cage in place. The plastic lock just ensures that the device wasn't slid off the post."
You may be thinking about what I said previously; "When she wants to make me think there may be a chance there's going to be a tease session the screw will come out and the plastic lock left in place. Then if she decides to tease it's easy to remove."
When this happens the cage will move. This is not for normal wear. When the opportunity that it may come off has passed, the screw or padlock is placed back on.
