Somewhat new to chastity

I have been interested in chastity for a long time, and own several devices including a CB-6000, PA-5000, several other metal devices, and a Lori model for PA. When I was single, I used to play with chastity, but seldom stayed locked up more than a day. I have mailed the key to myself on a couple of occasions. I am crafty and pretty good at making (and getting out of) things. Most of the plastic devices are pretty easy to defeat. The only one that seems to be really secure is the Lori tube, but it does not fir me right and ends to pull on my piercing, and it is really heavy.
I got married to a submissive (a slave actually) a couple of years ago, and we are doing great. I felt the desire a couple of months back to play with chastity. We talked it over and she wanted to try it too. We tried several devices, none of which I would consider secure. I made some modifications to the Lori tube and it seems to be wearable now. I re-drilled the hole for the PA pin and moved it back so it would not pull, and I closed up the gap in the front of the tube, leaving just a hole for the PA pin, again for added security. I have been able to pull the head of me penis out the slot and odd the pin before. Now, the only way out is with the key or to cut the locks with a Dremel.
Like most men venturing into chastity, I wanted to jump in the deep end of the pool and stay locked up a month on my first go around. I very quickly realized my wife was not able to adapt to her new roll as fast as I wanted. This was, after all, new to her. She researched it and found Sarah Jameson's website which is very informative. That helped a lot.
Over the past month or so we have tried periods of chastity, and it has been very good. There have also been very rough spots. We really love each other and worked through them.
We decided that a month long agreement would be best for us, during that month I would be either in a chastity device, wearing locking clothing that prevented me from access, or directly supervised if neither of the previous were possible. The Lori tube seems to work out the best. Was using it for a couple of days at a time, then out for a while. We did a period of four days strait last week, and she decided to take it off as I was not getting things clean enough, and I needed a day off. The next day it went back on, and I am taking great care to clean up better after bathroom visits. I have been in four days so far, and we are planning on 5 or 6 this stretch.
It takes a lot of getting used to being locked in the metal tube full time. Sleeping is hard (I have resorted to over the counter sleep aids, they work wonders), and physical activity is somewhat limited. If I am up for a long time, things get sore. They generally calm down overnight, so the start of the next day is always good.
Our month agreement is over in about 2 weeks, and I do not know what we will do after. We may decide to continue it, or take a break.
Let me say that in our relationship, I am the dominant one. She is not used to being in control, and is working hard to adapt. During our agreement, outside of my private parts, I am still in control. I am not submissive at all, but I do enjoy bottoming on occasion.
We are playing with chastity for a few reasons. First, to spice up our love life (it is pretty spicy anyhow), but this adds a dynamic. Second, like a lot of men, I have spent my time surfing the web and one thing leads to another, then business is taken care of. Third, I have found that while sex is wonderful with my wife, and I do really love it, right after I orgasm, I pretty much go to sleep. I am a lot less interested in romance and her, just in either going to sleep or working on a project or something. When I am locked up, our play lasts longer, and I really feel like being with her in the intimate way.
I am curious if there are any other naturally dominant men here that are experiencing a similar type of relationship?

I am in a similar situation. When we do some BDSM play, it is usually my wife who is "played with". We do not have a master/slave relationship either way, just a little bondage and sensation (blindfolds, gags, nipple clamps, spanking, ...) play.
Just like you, chastity helps me be "romantic".
