CB6000s condensation

Post by pamdipot »

OK, so this might be a non-issue, but I figured I'd throw it out there. I've been locked up in the CB6000s and have only been out once since Jan. 1. I'm using small amounts of a mineral oil-based lube to keep things from getting harmed. I seem to constantly have a varying amount of condensation build-up inside the tube. I assume it's just due to my body heat (I'm sure the frigid North Dakota winters don't help). I haven't noticed any issues such as skin abrasion/rash/etc. and I thankfully haven't noticed any odors from it.

Has anyone else had this happen? If so, what did you do to remedy it, assuming it needs a remedy? I also wondered about this after watching Thumper's informative cleaning video. How do you dry things out inside that metal tube?

Thanks.

1) Try using hand lotion instead of mineral oil. It will be much easier to clean.
2) I get condensation (water, sweat, etc.) inside the upper section of the tube. A qtip swab brushed around the inside is the best way to take care of it.
3) Maybe it's me, but I never seem to have any ill effects from the moisture. I shower in the morning and apply a dab of lotion. At night, I rinse the tube with a squeeze bottle of warm water. I let it air out overnight while I'm sleeping, and that seems to take care of things.

I am also wearing a cb-6000s. To date, I've only worn it a max of 3 days without removal, but I often see the condensation you mention. It hasn't caused me any problems, though I do give it a good wash while in the shower using the spongy swabs from keptforher.com. Those swabs work really well, as long as I'm careful. I also use the spray bottles to help wash and rinse. I dry it out as best I can using a hair dryer, tissues, and q-tips. So far, so good.

I don't use any lubes, just a bit of lotion at the bottom inside of the base ring before bed at night.

I agree with all the replies. I've seen the condensation in the tube at times. It does no harm and can be taken care of with swabs. I used baby oil inside the tube early on, but that seemed to promote the growth of bad odor after awhile, so I switched to a good quality lotion such as Aveeno that lasts for 10-12 hrs. The most important thing with the CB-6000s is to stay ahead of the cleaning routine. On a previous thread I posted a special order foam swab which makes cleaning the tube much easier. With this reusable foam swab, you can go a little longer between unlocking and removal for cleaning purposes. I still recommend a removal every 3-4 days for a thorough cleaning.

I've never seen any condensation due to my wearing the CB6000s. I have experienced fluid coming out of my CB6000s, usually starting around day 15, but I am sure that it was not due to condensation.

I've got condensation too. I use Vaseline and shower every day without the CB.
At the begining I tryed to keep the CB while showering but it did not worked well.

Welcome to the forum Papillon,

I am glad that the Vaseline is working well for you. As long as you keep taking it off every day for a shower you may continue to have good luck with it. If you (or your KH) decide you should stay locked up longer than that you may start to have some problems keeping the inside clean while using the Vaseline.

This is what I have to do. I can't wash it properly...
Especially since I had to block the ventilation holes. My skin was "puffing" out them and it was really really painfull.
And when I took it up after the day. I had 2 blister on each side.
