JailBird Quest

Hello all,

I'm seriously thinking about getting a Mature Metals JailBird. I just figure that for a lot of my questions who better to ask than all of you? I know a few people on here have JailBirds and I think some opinions could help me decide on fitting and options. I've read through the other topics, but some of my questions are either different or vary slightly. Okay... Here I go!

1. Sizing
Okay, I know it should be snug... But how snug? When I'm in the CB Curve's 1 1/2" it's "snug" enough, but I can still fit into the 6000's 1 3/8". With the 1 3/8s I think a lot of the skin would be squeezing out of the bars which may make it uncomfortable and be unneccesarily tight, because the 6000 squeezes it, even though it's pretty comfortable. And as for the length... Do I want the tip of my penis just near the end or actually touching it? So for me it's either going to be a 2 1/2" or 2 3/4". I'd just love to hear more personal experience on this because I'd hate to order it and find out that it doesn't fit. And this is all assuming it's appropriate to compare it to the CBxxxx line of devices.

3. Other Options
So I've seen a lot of other options that aren't on the MM site and I was wondering what all he can do. I've heard of a few different options for the lock, such as the screw. Can you still use a padlock with that option? Also- Can he make it so the regular lock doesn't go to the side but lays forward like with the CBxxxx series? Does that comprimise the device in any way? And I thought there was also an integrated lock option, but I don't really think that would be neccesarry.

My husband was in the CB-6000s. It was 2.5" long and 1.25" in diameter. We got a Jailbird and had it made at 2" long (1/2" shorter) and 1 1/8" in diameter (1/8" smaller). That was comfortable but then we got a Watchful Mistress and had it made 1/4" shorter (1.75") with the same diameter. This seems to be the best size. I think it is a combination of length, diameter, and also construction of the device (flat metal bars of the WM vs. the round bars of the JB). Overall I would say: snugger is better for long-term comfort and also, you are smaller than you think.

I bought this for the JB and it was a waste of money. Others have had different experiences so YMMV.

I don't think MM has an integrated lock--his substitute is the screw (which works fine for us).

I, too, am on the verge of ordering a MM device to replace my CB 6000s. Bill, at MM, has answered a multitude of my emails promptly, and without complaint. He has some guidelines on the site for measuring which answers a lot. The only thing missing is to subtract the gap measurement from the length of the cage. He can do most anything you might want. Most things are fixable at a modest cost if you screw up sizing with exception of the cage. You want to try and get that right the first time. I have been trying to decide between the JB and WM, and am leaning towards the WM now.

I saw these two models while browsing the internet and they seemed to be pretty similar to the JailBird. Anyone heard of them or have ny opinions?

I have also been thinking about MM’s Jail Bird or Watchful Mistress. With the extra $800 from income tax LRC has said she’s getting me a JB or WM and I’m getting her a Sybian.

I looked at the slaveforher site and I think I found some major differences.

This site; Tube -3.25” L, 1.5” W Rings 1.5”, 1.75”, 2”

If these dimensions will work for you okay, if not, it may fit worse than a CBxxxx. CBxxxx has the 1/8” sizes in between and this can be important for a comfortable fit. MM custom fits the device to you.

Another thing I noticed was, it’s made out of chrome plated steel. When the plating wears off the rust will begin. MM’s is made out of Stainless steel which means no rust.

The koalaswim site didn’t give any information except the three base rings that were the same sizes as the other site's and present the same problem. This little information would be a red flag to me.

That, and they are not selling things like the CB3000 under that name. That suggests they're selling knock-offs.

Also, did you notice those locks? Those are the Chinese version of WolfDog locks, which probably came standard on the Chinese-made devices.

They have slightly different names, but they are the same devices and same price too. Not sure why he has two sites...maybe he feels that women will be less intimidated by Chastity Heaven with a pink background and hearts and flowers vs. "Cage the Beast!" at the MM site. LOL.

Chastity Heaven is not Bill's site. It was started by somebody who saw some of Bill's work and wanted to put the time in as a reseller. I dont' know why he renamed the devices. Aarkey (his blog is listed on Keyheld) now manages the site, but the owner insists on keeping the pink design and the other stuff.

The backchatter that I've heard is that when Bill first started the site, he was difficult to work with. However, as the product line and sales grew, he figured out how to be more customer responsive. I have no way of confirming this, and since y'all seem to have had good experiences with MM, just make of this what you will.

I've noticed over the years that pretty much every chastity device maker - especially the custom ones - have had complaints about poor product and service. I think that a big problem is that many of these get started as a part-time side business, and the owners never expected the growth, and have no idea how to handle it. And when you have almost no help, and have to handle everything yourself, then it's easy for some things to fall behind. You have to be organized enough to keep the orders straight. You have to order materials, perhaps send out items for welding or polishing, and that entails getting several orders at once so you can avoid minimum setup fees from your suppliers. And if somebody measures wrong, then you've got to squeeze the re-work into the production queue somehow.

This is one of the reasons that over the years I've declined to make things commercially. I *have* a day job, thank you, and I don't want the extra aggravation. The only exception to this is that in response to a lot of requests from people who had heard about some of my own modifications, I (in an example of bad timing) made a bunch of stainless steel locking pins for the CB3000 - right before the Millers changed the design to make them compatible with the CB6000 rings. The 3k and 6k locking pins are not interchangeable, and while they can be modified to fit, I'd have to build a lot of fixturing to mod the finished parts (it would have been much easier to do at another stage in the operation).

As for making things commercially, we are sort of in the same situation. I have gotten requests for Ab to make people Abuddies, the batten, and the Humbler (and who knows what other stuff I might dream up). He just politely says no. Like you said, he's got a day job and that keeps him plenty busy.
