Does anyone know what the thread size that the MM Jailbird security screw uses?
I have a base ring from a previous Jailbird and I want to tap a thread into it in
order to use the screw instead.

I know how to tap a keg, but I don't know how to tap a thread. However, i do know how to find the size of a screw - you go to the hardware store and twist some nuts until you find one that fits.
Um, maybe I should say twist on some nuts - onto the screw that is- until you find one that fits. Then you know what thread size and - is it called pitch? - the screw is.
Nuts and screws, there are so many double entendres I can hardly think straight.

How does the security key work? I've seen various security things in the past like torx, or security torx etc, but all can be quite easily beaten. Could this be the case with this add-on?

The head of the screw, as I can best describe it, is kind of triangular shaped. It does have a tamper-proof stud in the middle of the opening. The triangle isn't symmetrical so the key will only fit in the head one way.
I work in the automotive field and was convinced I would have something in the tool box that would fit, I didn't.

That's what I wanted to hear, thank you. I work in the computing field, and also have strong contacts in the automotive field. I know I have about 100 different heads in the back of my toolkit for when I work on awkward computers etc. I don't think I have anything like that, or know where to get it either.
Is there room to stick a tamper proof sticker of some sort on top of the screw. Just in case I do find something when I don't want to!

I'm not sure if a sticker would survive the rubbing of clothing and washings. MM does have an extra feature that allows a plastic security lock to be installed as well as the screw.

oooOOHH, now that is interesting. Always nice to have a little extra should it be needed. Strangely for me if I know there is another level of security to go to I am less inclined to try and beat the level I am at.
If for some reason I feel that there is nothing left then I'm more likely to have a go. However I was recently introduced to my mistress' cane when I escaped my CB6K. I now have substantially reduced desire to escape again!!!
