Hello,
I am planning to purchase a Jail Bird chastity device for my slave husband and we have received the sizing rings from Mature Metal. I have had him wear some of the red plastic rings for a few hours at a time and think I have it narrowed down, but am unsure how to select the correct size. How tight or loose should the base ring be? If it will not slide off by itself will that be good when the cage is attached, or does it need to be smaller? I don't want it to cut off his circulation.
Warm regards,
Alex

I like mine to be as tight as it can be and still allow for a nocturnal erection. The problem is that with just the rings I don't think there is a way to know what size that is. Having the tube on changes the dynamics. For example, I am currently wearing a 41mm ring and don't have any problem with comfort or nocturnal erections while wearing the tube with it. I did get a reasonably hard erection one time with just the ring on and it was a little bit scary just how tight it was. I would not want to wear this ring through the night by itself. I also have a 40mm ring but I only wore it once. It was fine during the day but at around 4:00am I had to get up and remove it. You wouldn't think that 1mm would make that much of a difference but it can.
I am sure others will chime in but I am a fan of starting with a CB-6000 or CB-6000S. I started with a CB-3000 and am glad that I did. Figuring out all the sizes and how they interact with each other can take a while. And, he will get used to it and probably need to go to a smaller size. It takes time and is much easier and less expensive to do that with the CB series.
Good luck.

I agree with Atone. The base ring size of a MM device is inexpensive and easy to fix. The length and inside diameter of the cage is another thing. The CB Series is a great way to make the adjustments yourself to find the right fit before spending $350+. I'm very much looking forward to receiving my Jailbird next week but I'm pretty confident that I got the all around size correct because of the CB6000s I've worn and adjusted over time.

Welcome to the forum.
I'll chime in with an ageement on the CB series for the first device. Another point I'd like to make is the base ring will probably change over time. I think going down in size is a common thing. The man's body will adjust to the ring being on. From the ring I am now weraring it's two sizes smaller than the first one I ever wore. If it wasn't for not getting my testicles through a smaller one, I'd like to go one size smaller.
I'll also add that a few hours are different than wearing a ring overnight. That is the true test for any base ring or full device. The nocturnals can change a comfortable feel to an uncomfortable to unbearable feel. We have some members here who can't wear their device at night and get good sleep.

Yes, but it still takes time to send it back, have a new one made, and then get it back.locked4her55 wrote:The base ring size of a MM device is inexpensive and easy to fix.
I think it is great that MM will make changes to the base ring for a small fee. I don't think that is a reason to not get it right the first time if you can.

I could not agree more. I also thought that I had the base ring and gap size of my CB6000s just right until I was riding my motorcycle one day and felt something change down there. After checking it out at a restroom I found that somehow I had a ball on either side of the base ring. Made for an uncomfortable ride home and removal of the CD to fix.
Doing some online research I found one of Thumpers posts stating that you should keep reducing your ring & gap sizes down until it becomes umcomfortable. Then move up one size. The body will adjust somewhat. Reducing the sizes over time also helped me in negating the ability to pull out the back side. Eventually I went down to the 1 3/4" ring size and a 1/4" gap.
I too would be disapointed if I had to send my Jailbird back for sizing issues. I hope my time spent in a CB will prevent me from having to.

Re: Help Selecting Size of Base Ring for the Jail Bird devic
As a cb6000 and cb6000s user, and now a MM jailbird user, I'll throw in my two cents. I would recommend ordering two rings with the device. One sized to the size you figure is correct and then one size smaller. Once everything gets broken in and stretched then you will probably want the next smaller ring. It's a bit more money but I think it's worth it. Also be sure to order the oval ring.
Re: Help Selecting Size of Base Ring for the Jail Bird devic
I pretty much agree with everyone else. Make your best guess on the base ring size. If the choice is between 2 sizes, buy both if you can. Getting the cage diameter and length right the first time is crucial. The trick is to get the correct distance between the bottom of the cage and the bottom of the base ring. That's what holds the device firmly in place. If you get the cage right the first time, you can change base rings and/or gap spacing at not much expense compared to buying another new device. Good Luck!

Re: Help Selecting Size of Base Ring for the Jail Bird devic
To All:
First, thank you all very much for your advice. There's more to consider than I realized!
This weekend we went to Mr. S Leathers in San Francisco and had him try on several different cages. I love the gay guys that work there. They were very excited to help us and they are always so nice! I very much prefer the look and feel of the metal devices. No offense to anyone, but to me the plastic ones look cheap. The metal ones have a lot more substance and I like to be able to poke him through the bars. I also think the metal ones with bars would be easier to keep clean, which is very important to me! It seems that getting two different base rings is the way to go. Thanks for the suggestion. Has anyone tried any of the devices from ebay as a starter? They are not custom sized, but it might be worth trying for the money. They are very inexpensive.
My plan is for him to wear the device at home and when we go out for date nights. And perhaps to play parties. When we go out, it will be fun to know that he is locked up under his pants! He talks a lot about wanting to wear one more often, but I don't know if that's practical. He goes to the gym and rides his bicycle on weekends, so is that even possible?
Warm regards,
Alex

Dear Alex
I am locked in jailbird, 24x7 - procured from ebay $21.99
I also found it far more sturdy than the non-metal ones - of course it is my personal view
I have no experience about cycling, but I can comfortable exercise in a gym
I do not have to remove it while bathing, for cleaning
Also, it has an excellent ventilation, so no accumulation of sweat / moisture
I started with 50 mm ring. Prabably after a month or so, I may shift to 45 mm ring
