Preferred Padlock?

I’ve never seen this discussed but it would be helpful to me: what kind of padlock do you use (specifically)?

I’ve used the cheap Chinese padlocks that often come with the eBay/DHGate devices as I’ve experimented but they’re obviously cheap and not going to last through daily wear and tear, showers, etc. So rather than risk not being able to open it at an inopportune time. I’d like to get something more reliable. That information should be useful to anyone.

Additionally, I have a MM Jailbird and those locks allow the base and cage to move back and forth a bit. Having it solid, like those that have the security screw setup talk about, would be great. This would require a lock with a thicker shackle (that’s what she said) but then I suppose there’d be the danger of it getting jammed together at some point. Or not.

So...thoughts? Manufacturers, model numbers and links would be most helpful!

Ive asked my KH to replace the lock as its a cheap one and has started to get discoloured from showering and i didn't want it to rust,She said no and if it rusts shut....tough and if she ever replaces the lock it will be with a nut n bolt.
We also have some plastic numbered locks for but she prefers the metal one as she can hear the clink clink at times.

So no preferred lock here.

Does anyone know the shackle diameter of the type lock used by mature metal?

We have a "Master Lock" 120 D , padlock.. the hasp is 7/16ths or 11 mm . It's the same as the luggage locks, but it is pick resistant , and corrosion resistant Brass. It's been thru almost 4 yrs of daily showers, a few dips in the Ocean, and never had any problems. Just rinse and a little bit of WD 40 every month, and you should be fine.

My favorite is the little brass padlock that came with my CB6000s. I rounded the corners on a bench grinder and it fits nicely on both my MM devices.

Master lock- more than 10 years old and used enough that the once sharp corners are dulled.

Are you suggesting that is the "exact" diameter for the MM devices? 3.5mm?

So that when it is installed on the cage, it would eliminate any rocking back and forth?

If you go to their website they state that all their products are built for the Abus 65/20 padlock:

Interesting that MM calls is a 4mm shackle and Abus has it on their technical sheet at 3.5mm.
Heck what's .5mm

I'm about three years into using that same padlock on both of my MM devices and their is very little rocking.

LOL ... knew I couldn't keep a straight face.
A brass Masterlock with brass keys. I filed & sanded the edges, and covered it with shrink tube to keep the clacking noise down.
