I'm struggling with my new Jailbird and need some advice. I'm fine most of the time but every morning it starts burning below the balls and is painful for maybe a couple of hours before easing off. I'm not sure whether it starts with the morning coffee or what, but it gets worse during the drive to work and it's mid to late morning before I'm comfortable again. It feels like the balls are very tight and I have to try to pull some extra skin through to give them room.
The base ring is plenty big enough normally, and often I can get 2 fingers in. Is the gap between the base ring and the cage too small? I need ideas of what to have done when I send it back again.
I also have a smaller base ring that seems OK for size but creates the same burning under the balls but much worse. I know the gap is smaller still so that will have to be fixed.
Any thoughts welcome. It's frustrating to have a great device but for it to be too uncomfortable to use.
Jailbird issues
Re: Jailbird issues
I've had similar problems when I've not used enough lubrication around the base ring. I use E45 cream which works well, and I don't get any burning sensation.
Re: Jailbird issues
You really shouldn't have burning... what size is your gap? You can try some extra lotion or lubrication but if your ring is not too tight it very well could be a gap issue.

What you're reporting is an issue with the gap.

Re: Jailbird issues
I concur with Lady M and whistler. i had a severe "ball burn" issue. In my case, a 1/16" increase in the gap solved the problem completely.
Others on this site who are handy have reported adjusting the gap themselves, but I am not terribly handy, and this is precision work we are talking about, so I sent mine back to MM. They charged me something like $10 to do it, and it was back in a little over a week.

Thanks everyone. I've been using lots of baby oil for lubrication, sometimes E45 too, so I don't think that's the problem. I'll contact MM and have them increase the gap. Shame it takes a month round-trip from Europe.

Re: Jailbird issues
belocked,
When I received my MM Watchful Mistress I found the same issues you described. I ended up doing the very same thing that wishful4 describes below. Did the trick and never had any pain down there again. Might be worth a try before loosing your JB for a month.
"There's no guarantee you can bend it perfectly straight, but I clamped the base ring in a workbench vise between two pieces of wood so I wouldn't score the ring. The locking post was at the top about an inch or so above the vise pointing towards me. Then I got a hard piece of wood and drilled a small hole in the end almost the same size as the locking post where it will slip in the drilled hole very tightly. I slide the wood onto the locking post and then gently bend up or down depending on whether you want to increase or decrease the gap."

locked4her55,
I'd love to do this but I'm not the most practical person and I don't have the right equipment. I can think of other uses of a vise that make my eyes water, but I doubt I'll try to modify my JB the way you suggest for fear of messing up again. Even now I know that the gap isn't the same both sides and the JB rotates left as a result, and anything I do would probably be even worse. I can always fall back to my trusty CB6KS for a month while the work's done properly, but thanks for the suggestion.

Re: Jailbird issues
I too had the same problem and a simple 1/16" gap increase took care of it. I had also ordered a smaller ring but found the smaller ring was too small for nighttime wear. My erections had a problem trying to go back down because of the constriction. Since I had the gap increase I can wear it 24/7. I still will sometimes put a little lube under the base ring at night but most of the time it is not necessary.
