How to customize the cage

I have found a chastity cage that I like (took awhile, I went thru several before finding this one). This cage is a smallish stainless steel model made in China. I got it for cheap on eBay. Took a long time for it to arrive, but once installed (on me), it was obvious that I had found the right one, finally. It is light, small and extremely comfortable, it is no bigger than my flaccid penis, so erections just don't happen, just some swelling and it is not painful. And that is a double edged sword. I crave some pain. Go figure.

Anyhow, I read some place how you could glue something inside the cage to cause erections (attempted) to be more painful. But I can't find that information anymore. I hate to ruin the cage, so I really don't want to experiment too much.

Any ideas what I could add to it to make attempted erections more painful?

Maybe some heavy duty Velcro ? the spike side rather than the fluffy of course ??

I tried some velcro, and even the spike side seemed not painful. I think I need something a bit more stiff.
