wearing a device while biking

Post by bostondan »

As the weather is getting nicer around here I hopped on the bicycle the other for a short spin and was pretty uncomfortable with the base ring digging into me. I wasnt wearing my shorts/chamois so it just could've been that. Anyone cyclists here ride regularly with your device still on? I'd hate to take it off before a ride especially since I wont have access to the key. Does lube or vaseline help at all?

I went out on my first bike ride for the season a couple of weeks ago, and I was intending to leave the cage home because I already have enough issues with bike seats and pressure. I knocked out 40 miles, but around the 30 mile mark something must have shifted or something because it was pins and needles time. That has been my only attempt so far. I'm waiting until I get my new cage before try again. Speaking of, can anyone recommend a cage that would work well for biking? I've been looking at HolyTrainer, and that may be the one.

I think it'd be fine for a short ride around town, but if you're putting in serious miles or riding off road the honor system might be a better option.

This subject seems to pop up regularly here; I suggest doing a search on this forum and you should find plenty of advice about cycling with a CD. My sad recollection: it doesn't work well for most. I don't even try - I can't imagine any way that would be anything better than extremely uncomfortable at best for those doing serious miles.

I've gone 15 miles pretty regularly on my bike. I typically wear two pairs of briefs for extra padding, and I do use a bit of A&D ointment (similar to vaseline) which works relatively well.

They do make split seats for bikes too, they were around $100 or so when I looked them up - though I found I didn't need it myself.

Biking is big issue for me. I use a bike working, and I average 20 miles a day. I use a slotted seat, but it still doesn't help all the time. It is going to take some getting used to if my Lady decides to keep me locked up on a work day, but she is a benevolent goddess.

I can't see biking in what I'm wearing now. I already have a seat with a "love channel" in it because the pressure on my perineum was a bit too much - and a woman's seat at that. It's what the guys at the bike shop decided would be best. I was riding an average of 30 miles 3 times a week last season, and have been inching my way up as I learn new routes in our new location. The old loops had some hills, but was mostly flat or rolling. This area has HILLS so I'm on the bike longer.

But I always ride in padded shorts, and pull everything up and forward to prevent chafing and wedgies. I can't see riding with everything pulled forward, the boys straining to get out AND the cage in front. The bulge in the shorts (and the lock) would be rather.... obvious.

I finally found the near-perfect device! I have tried numerous Chinese knock-offs, and this is the best for me:

I call this my mini cage. It is so short that my cock presses against the end, to the point where it leaves an impression on the tip. I have experimented wearing this one to the office, and if I wear bikini briefs to prevent chafing the inside of my pants, I can do so easily. I never imagined that the shortest cage would be the best. And now I am able to ride my bicycle while caged. Gulp.

I left the cage on and put on my usual road cycling garb. I used plenty of anti-chafing cream all over my package. The cage is so short and low profile that it does not protrude excessively while in Lycra. I jumped on my bike, determined to ride my 22 mile loop without giving in and removing the cage – but I brought the key. I didn't need it.

With a minor adjustment or two, I was able to ride with complete comfort. As anyone who has worn a cage knows, your package undergoes frequent shrinking and swelling, growing and withdrawing. Any time I had to stop at a light, my package would adjust itself, requiring only minor compensation once I got going again. For one short amount of time I experienced a mild ball crush against the saddle, but after adjusting my posture things loosened up and became completely comfortable again.

When I got home, I relaxed on the patio with the beer before jumping in the shower. During a complete washing and examination, I could find no chafing or pinch marks. In fact, the cage seemed to prevent the couple of chafings I often get while unprotected.

Now the question is, do I have the cojones to wear the cage while on a group ride?

Not to sidetrack the original discussion, but I have that same small cage as well, and my g/f likes to lock me into it for intense play/punishment scenes. It is definitely different to be smashed into a device.
