Re: Concerned about the materials used in my device
Lead would not be found in steel, I'd rather suspect nickel to be a possible culprit if you are allergic to it.
Most irritation is simply caused by the device being there at all, and rubbing against the skin. Any irregularity caused by some part breaking/flaking off can be vey irritating to the soft skin of your genitals.
I would suggest to sand down and polish (Dremel!) any rough spot on the device.
Also give yourself time to get used to wearing a device, and take a break as soon as it starts to become uncomfortable in some way. Lubrication will also help, there are several threads on this subject.

Re: Concerned about the materials used in my device
I would plan on getting another device for any serious wear. In the meantime though, I would recommend cleaning/sanding/polishing like kpb57 suggested. I would then cover the area with fingernail polish. It will wear off, so keep checking it. This will at least keep your skin away from the metal.

Stainless steel is steel with nickel added. My experience with the inexpensive Chinese cages I own are all very good quality stainless (they are not magnetically attracted.). Are you sure it's an allergy?

Re: Concerned about the materials used in my device
I read a considerable number of the reviews of devices offered on Amazon- there were many reports of plating flaking off and rust issues. While some here have had luck with devices from DHgate being genuine stainless, others purchasing thru Amazon have been rooked by descriptions claiming to be stainless but not really being so.Tame Lion wrote:Stainless steel is steel with nickel added. Re: Concerned about the materials used in my device
I'm wearing one of those Chinese chastity products I bought on Amazon. Last time I looked at it closely I did see a little bit of rust. I've wondered if it was made with some sort of harmful material also, but so far I've continued to wear it. I don't have an extra $200 or $300 in my budget for a more expensive device, and I'm enjoying the device I have. I imagine if you search on the internet for words like "low quality steel" combined possibly with "China" or "rust", then you'll learn more about this topic.
Re: Concerned about the materials used in my device
I bought three devices on Amazon: one plastic and two steel. All were the same products that were on DHGate. Amazon has some cheap, plated products, but if you read carefully and study the images, you can figure out which are steel. If you are willing to wait for a shipment from China, DHGate has proven excellent. I have bought three devices (two are still on the way). I have been wearing the first one I ordered for the last 3 weeks 24/7 with no problems at all. I did the magnet test on the Amazon and the DHGate product. All pass. You just need to be careful shopping.TwistedMister wrote:I read a considerable number of the reviews of devices offered on Amazon- there were many reports of plating flaking off and rust issues.
