A problem that can happen with plastic is that there is "give and take" in the gap between the base ring and the bottom of the cage.
A 3/8" spacer gap at the top pin on a CB series device can be a 1/2" gap or more at the bottom depending on the pressure exerted in that area. This can allow something to sneak through.
Once moving onto a custom made metal device you will find that a 3/8" gap is truly a 3/8" gap all the time around the entire circumference.

I too had issues with the plastic CB series. Not at all with the Mature Metal one. I think the difference is that if you look at the plastic ones the cage is aligned more to the top making it off center and allowing an uneven gap. Gap at the bottom is larger then on the sides. My Mature Metal one the tube is centered making an even distanced gap all the way around. Haven't had any escape since being in steel!
Previous devices: CB2000, CB3000, Curve, Exobelt X1, Waterhole and CB6000s
Current cage: The Mistress from Mature metal

And that's why they don't make jail cells out of plastic.
