Birdcage Questions

Post by juniorhubby »

After using a CB3K for eight years now (and very heavily this past year), I am realizing that is is time to move on to something that is more feasible for 24/7 wear. The 3K model has been great to me for its primary purpose, but things like showering and cleaning the device itself have me taking it off far too often. I've got the go ahead from my wife to find a steel cage type device so she won't have to keep handing over the key for cleaning as often. Right now, for the knowledge I have now, the Birdcage is the front runner.

I've done some research as to what I'm wanting, and besides a more hygienic device, I'm also looking at cost. I've heard that the Jailbird is ideal for what I'm looking for, but I can't justify the cost to my wife. I've also heard that it is not designed for a grower, which I am. The Birdcage, on the other hand, has room to grow, is an open design which benefits hygiene, and is highly affordable.

I've searched this forum and pieced together some knowledge, but still have a few questions for anyone who has experience with longterm wear of the Birdcage.

1. I've seen them listed as being stainless steel. Is this true? I can't help but wonder because it is so much cheaper than other stainless models.

2. Again to the questioning of its price, is it of good quality to wear on a semi-permanent basis the way a Jailbird is? Meaning, is the steel smooth without burrs that could irritate or cut skin? Are there any pinch point concerns?

3. The Birdcage looks exceptionally long. I am a grower, but I don't know if I'd need as much room as they offer. One guy reviewed this device on Extreme Restraints and customized it himself for a better fit by cutting it off at the base ring, taking some of the length out, drilling holes in the base ring, and reattaching with epoxy. I have the tools required and would customize it as well if needed. I wish I could get ahold of him, but I would welcome any advice on here regarding that as well.

4. I gather that different companies make these devices. I'm finding this item anywhere from $20 on amazon to $70 on sale. Does anybody know the company that makes the most genuine Birdcage? This will be a factor in where I'd buy it.

5. Any other general concerns with the Birdcage.

That's all I can think of for now. Any advice is greatly appreciated.

I currently have my hubby in a Bird Cage that we bought from Fetish Toy Box (I think). I can have him reply as to the comfort and wear but it is CHROME plated stainless steel. I've notice some wear in the chrome plating with hubby's longer term wear. He's been in it about 25 of the last 30 days. Currently he's had it on 24hrs a day for 9 days.

The Bird Cage is quite big (though if you are big like my hubby it's all good) but my hubby fits the base ring and cage diameter... the cage itself is just a little too long and he is a bit of a grower too I guess and he can have some discomfort from the device sliding down and yanking on the sack. Since hubby is still long when flaccid he needs this cage because he will not fit in any of the others.

Just a thought, have you looked on eBay for a steel device that's shorter? Or here in the market place? Maybe someone had a JB that would work for you?

We are waiting on his Jail Bird to get here and I can't wait!

I hope this helps a bit, I'll see if I can get monkey boy to write when he wakes up!

I've looked at the cheap devices on Amazon and other places, and what they appear to be is cheap imitations (and I've read quite a few reviews from unhappy customers who got fooled). Some may be stainless while others are not. Some may be described as being 'stainless steel' but turn out to be chrome-plated crap. Whether or not you get *real* SS is a gamble. The only way you're going to be sure to get the genuine article from one of the known makers is to pay the price for it.

If you don't mind paying for a cheap imitation that may or may not be worth what you paid, and may or may not work out for you, it's your decision. In many cases, "You get what you pay for." Forewarned is forearmed.

I can't comment on a Birdcage, though I suspect you'll get what you pay for.

I can comment on the Jailbird since I have both a Jailbird and a Watchful Mistress from Mature Metal. Both can be customized. I am a grower also but I ordered both to be snug when I'm flaccid. If you want, they will make you a cage that is 5 3/4" long.

I've been wearing their products for almost three years now and both of them still look like new. Their craftsmanship is outstanding and the service is second to none.

Expensive, yes but it sounds like you've been doing this for a lot longer than many of us here. Could be time to treat yourself to the real thing. ;)

I agree! After just a week we decided to just go for it an ordered the JailBird and I'm way too excited to get that monkey in his real permanent cage! Just tightened the budget a bit - we are a family of 4 living on a single income so don't think we're all rich over here! We just knew we wanted it and did what we had to to get it. Totally worth it I'm sure!

Once we get it I may order a second one in a different style just for some variety haha honestly though, if your wife wants to really keep you in 24/7/365 you might as well go with something custom made for your dimensions and high quality. Now, we are impatient and wanted something for hubby to wear in the mean time which is why we bought the Bird Cage... if you wanted to do something like that, that's always an option.

Ok here are my monkey boys comments - he's not allowed to read/post here without permission so I post his comments and things for him:
Yay, a topic I can actually comment with experience on!

As My Lady mentioned previously, the Birdcage is chrome plated (mine is starting to show some chrome wear, but otherwise structurally sound). I have found it is EXTREMELY comfortable and suitable for long term wear - I'm at the point where I can comfortably wear it indefinitely until ML decides to let me out. So far I haven't found any seams or uneven surfaces. With regular maintenance (cleaning, lube, etc.), it's a piece of cake... except for the growing frustration and horniness. ;)

A comment on the "grower" concerns: I am a grower myself. The Birdcage gives me about an inch or two of room at the end of the shaft. In my opinion, this is actually NOT a good thing. You actually don't want room to grow for a number of reasons. First, I find that when ML's cock starts to harden, the extra room gives it enough strength to push the cage away from my body and squeezing my testicles tight in the process. I've been told that a better fit doesn't solve this problem completely, but reduces the amount of pushing. Second, growth room that allows your penis to expand will also allow it to move along the inside of the cage shaft. Without proper lubrication, this can lead to skin irritations. And third, isn't the whole fun of this chastity thing about preventing erections?  :)

In my opinion, I would avoid DIY'ing a Birdcage customization; if you are looking for a personalized fit, it might be best to just fork up the cash for a Jailbird (or save up, whatever the case may be). In my limited experience so far, some devices may seem expensive at first glance, but you definitely get the quality that you pay for.

Overall, I am very satisfied with the Birdcage. Except for the ball squeezing issues, it is nearly the perfect device for me.  If it is all you can afford at the moment, you most likely will not be disappointed. However, as ML posted, if you are going for a true 24/7/365 experience, a custom fit choice would probably be best.

Thank you all for your responses.

I may catch some flack on here for this, but I've decided to hold off on a custom device for now and go with the Birdcage. For two reasons: First, I want to experience the feel of that design. I've always liked the aesthetics of it. Second, if this thing breaks down the way people are telling me, it will prove to my wife that I should spend the money on something of better quality. I will follow up on whether or not to eat crow once the device arrives and I try it out. Thanks again.

Nah, it's just a choice you're making. The difference is that you're making an *informed* choice.

No flack being shot here either, and as TwistedMister said, "The difference is that you're making an informed choice".

I don't believe anyone here treats any members different because of the device they have chosen to wear.

Good luck with what ever you decide on and shoot for the three H's so that you can be, Healthy, Happy & Horny.
