Our practical method for emergency key access

Post by dmxrobot »

Ok - 2nd post ever, more info to come later on our journey in the appropriate category.

We are VERY new to this lifestyle. I started researching in September / October of 2012. People who know me know that when I start something, I have a tendency to go ALL in. I ordered my first and only device from MM early January. I finally received it a few days ago. Got courage to talk to wife - very accepting - all of that in another post, I promise!

So, to make this real to me, I can't have access to the key at all times or I'll just make excuses to get out. "oh the pain was too much" or "I had some discomfort" and I'd use that as an excuse to scratch the itch. I like some of the ideas about envelopes and stamps, but I think that's fairly easy to defeat. I would have the challenge of dealing with the letdown if I did this, but I could possibly get away with it.

As some of you know, if you have the high-security screw from MM, it comes with a nice little keychain-sized screw-bit. The key holder can keep this on her key chain without any issue. I want the key on me, but I don't want to be able to use it without a consequence.

I had my wife put a braid around the key, sort of like girls will put in their hair from time to time or those little bracelets kids make at camp. We got the thread from a local fabric place and wife spent about an hour crafting a custom "charm" or "trinket" for me that encloses the key.

I have complete access to the key at any time, but in order to get to the bit on the device, I'll be required to cut off the threads that make up the charm. I'll have to destroy what took her an hour to make for me - to give me. I'm a pretty sentimental person - the fact she sat down and made this for me on the 1st true day of our new adventure meant SO much to me. I'll not be destroying my "charm" from her just for a quick release.

I think the next version I'll get a bolt cap to slide over the bit-tip of the key. Bolt caps (may have another name) are typically plastic or rubber and are often found on children's toys or on playgrounds where bolts are exposed. The cover just slips over the threaded side of the bolt and helps deal with the taper of the bit end. Additionally, the cap could be totally enclosed in threads to make it completely inaccessible unless the entire charm were unwound or cut.

I think you and your wife have come up with a great idea here. :)

Good luck on your journey together. Keep us posted along the way with any more good ideas.

One other enhancement we added this weekend was to place a rubber screw thread protector over the tip of the security driver. Thread protectors are those rubber caps you see covering swing set bolts to protect kids from rusty exposed threads. These can be found in any home improvement store. I know in lowes they are in the drawer of custom screws / bolts / nuts, and you get 3 for about $0.95. The design from wife is braided over the driver and thread protector, essentially locking the thread protector over the tip of the driver. This completely prevents any ability to remove the security screw without destroying the custom made "trinket".

Chastity for me means i have no access to the key, for me it improves the hole experience of surrendering my ability to self stimulate. We have no emergency access plans for release, if my wife is present then no problem.

My emergency key is a large pair of bolt cutters in my basement workshop.

Mine are just simple. We stuck them in duct tape folded over on itself and she signed both sides so she would know if i used them.

That's pretty much our solution, except that my wife used that safety/security tape that falls apart when you try to undo it.

Our lives means that sometimes we are separate due to work commitments for several days at a time, Only twice in 4 years have I had to use an emergency key but without it things would have been very bad. I think an emergency release procedure is quite key (ha ha) you just never know...

It works. It would have been nice to know why I was initialing duct tape in advance though. LOL I do imagine those keys will be pretty sticky if you ever need them. :-)

That is not just functional, but beautiful and thoughtful. Thanks for sharing it.

Our method was always to just have a key hidden in the house, that if I truly needed to get out - I could call and just ask where it was. Its amazing how many place you can hide something as small as a key.
