So, I'm chafing, but not in the standard, "oh, I need a little more lube around my balls" way. After going any reasonable time in my cb-6000s, masturbation is extremely painful, because the skin basically gets chafed raw after any playtime at all. I was in just recently and unlocked last Saturday after being locked for maybe 5 days, and started playing with myself -- and had to stop because of it. I'm finally healed up enough today to give it another shot (talk about tease and denial), but I'm worried about locking back up again! Any thoughts or recommendations?

This is generally uncommon but it sounds like you could either be:
1) Having a localized allergic reaction to the plastic
2) Have some kind of chronic irritant at work while in the device. I wonder if urine or sweat mixed with the plastic could be for some reason especially caustic to your skin. Hmmm.
3) Something way beyond what I could tell just from that post.

I'd suggest not playing with the device for long periods of time or at all. Possibly a metal device or silicone (though silicone has a tendency for skin irritation and allergies in a lot of people who try Bon4's I've heard) might be something to try to see if it has the same effect or solves your issue. Metal might be especially nice if it's an open design like some of Mature Metal's or the cheaper knock offs because your penis will be open to air, water for washing, and moisturizer I guess if for some reason the skin is drying out though that's a totally new one to me.

My two cents. Take 'em at face value. Talking to a dermatologist (if you know some very open ones or kink friendly ones) might be a good move if you can.

Where exactly is the chafing, what does it look like (skin peeling, redness, etc?) and what do you mean by playtime? Does it only happen when getting teased in the device and hard or with just regular use?

I've experienced something similar to this. I think it is a combination of two factors. After a long period of lock-up and not being able to reach full erection the skin loses some elasticity, and when full erection is permitted the skin then becomes 'tighter' than it normally would be. The second factor is that under normal conditions of touching, sexual activity, etc. the skin becomes somewhat de-sensitized (like the difference between the hands of one who does no manual labor and one who is accustomed to it, but not so great a degree).

I was concerned about this as well since sexual activity became painful and I sought to alleviate it. I have found that removing the device once a week and permitting full erection for a period of time, along with some stimulation to keep it used to being handled practically eliminates the problem. How you 'handle' it (pun intended) is up to you and your KH. In my opinion this is a good reason for the KH to engage in a bit of T&D at least once a week...unless, of course, the KH has a bit of a sadistic streak and *wants* you to experience this discomfort.

Thankfully, Beth enjoys letting me out most every night to ride me, even if I don't get to come until her lover's next visit...usually at least once a week. Thanks for the replies all. The chafing and redness comes when I masturbate after I've been let out -- since we're long distance, T&D is a little bit harder at times, though we're finding our rhythm.

I'm thinking some of it may come from the lube I use, which is just a Walgreen's skin cream. Probably also from losing sensitivity -- would a more open cage design (a la Mature Metal) help with the latter, do you think? Might be the prod I need to upgrade...

Not in my experience. I found it about the same as the Steelheart.

I would try a different lube though. If you aren't let out too often to masturbate then you should be able to splurge on the good stuff

I was unable to find a working solution get to the CB 3000/6000 devices. I was only able to get beyond a few days in chastity without the same kind of problem you are having by getting a custom sized jailbird from Mature Metal. It totally changed the experience.
