My husband has been using the cb series for almost 2 yrs now and it works great (will have to replace due to sides letting loose). Like all devices you need to figure out some minor things like ring size and spacers.This is very important and nobody explains it very well when you purchase this item. I have recently purchased the birdlock for him. It will fit very snug but there are several fall backs to this one compared to the cb. CB is solid plastic with air vents that help the caged slaves penis breathe properly with no feeling at all ( causes less erection and he is on the large side so it doesn't have much room to grow). The birdlock is made of made of solid silicon and if you squeeze it I have read that you can achieve an orgasm ( but it fits fully in to the tip and then some). It also has no ventilation for the skin to not get an issue. He does say that he likes it because he fits better (under clothing and he has a large penis so its in there snug) but on the flip side he doesn't like it because you can squeeze it to get some sensation. We have not tried any metal yet because most of them have many more open space for feeling and the cb seems to have the least and is by far the best all around for our needs. Preventing an erection is more a function of getting a properly sized device, with a tube that is equal to your partner's flaccid length. Note that this doesn't technically prevent an erection--it's more like getting a chubby, The rest of the erection, if you are very excited, is inside the body, and your body will push the device away.

Properly fitted custom devices, like those from Mature Metal or Steelworxx--are undeniably better, but the plastic devices are good for learning exactly what size is proper.

How long should it stay on or what is to long?

Some people wear chastity devices only for a few days; others for months (or years, if you can trust a recent survey) at a time. As long as the fit is good and you can manage grooming and cleanliness, there's probably not an upper limit.

Slamming right into a long-term lockup is probably not the best idea. It takes some time to both get the fit right and to acclimate to the device. Something that seems good when you strap into it may turn out to be a very bad idea at 5 AM or 3 days later.

I would note a properly-fitted chastity belt is about as close as you will get, but even inexpensive ones cost quite a bit of money.

One would be better off with a less-expensive device, first to see how it works, and second to see if that is really what you want to do. Plunking down several hundred dollars/Euros/rand/whatever for a chastity device and finding out later you don't really care for it is an expensive lesson.

As been mentioned in other threads previously, the CB series is great for learning what will fit well, and whether or not chastity will work in your relationship, but...

I wore a CB6000s for almost a year before switching to a Mature Metal Jailbird, and now wish that I had gone with the metal device a lot sooner. It fits better and hygiene is much easier. I had to remove the CB6KS nightly for a good washing, and especially drying of my cock, and even with that routine, I still suffered from rashes from time to time.
