How is the Jail Bird working out, specifically with respect to your nickel allergy? I have a terrible nickel allergy and I want to order a Jail Bird, but they told me that even the 316 stainless used in the Jail Bird contains nickel. However, they did state that it was medical grade stainless, so it was less likely to cause an allergic reaction, but they would not guarantee that.CaptivatedCaveman wrote:Jailbird arrived today. Therefore, I'm curious what your experience has been.
Thanks so much!

Re: Thinking about metal
I just noticed this question a few days ago, accidentally, while doing some research on the forums for a new device. I've been lurking the last few years, being super busy and focusing my limited time in critical areas. Probably little point in responding now, but just in case:
The Jail Bird has been amazing. At one point I wore it almost non-stop for a year, only having it removed for ruined orgasms and doctor visits. No nickel allergy problems whatsoever.
Getting tired of its limitations, though. The screw has gotten loose enough that I can unscrew it with my fingers and the whole thing rotates way too much for my taste. And I really want to switch to an integrated lock.
With that in mind, I just got a PA piercing in preparation for ordering a modified Looker 01 from Steelworxx. The plan is for it to have a urethral tube that locks through the PA using the same setup as in their Securo-Cage 02.

I ultimately went with Steelworxx and got a powder coated device to be safe regarding the allergy. Integrated lock is great but the key is a little odd. Regarding your PA, where did you have it done? How is it working out for you? What has changed?CaptivatedCaveman wrote:I just noticed this question a few days ago, accidentally, while doing some research on the forums for a new device. I am considering getting a deep frenum to avoid puncturing the urethra.

Re: Thinking about metal
I had the piercing done at Stingray Bodyart in Allston, MA. It was done a little over a week ago so there's not much to say. Getting it done was less painful than I expected. Really the healing process is more unpleasant. Bled something awful at first but stopped the bleeding in a little over 24 hours once I topically applied some Yunnan Baiyao (just wiki it). The crust of dried fluids that forms along the piercing can feel like sandpaper if it isn't cleaned off promptly. Yuck.
The piercer recommended going just to the side of the nerve bundle underneath rather than through it. I don't know whether that's a good or bad thing. It puts the piercing slightly off the vertical axis.
As far as what's changed, do you mean that in regards to getting a piercing specifically or more generally? I'm in a very different place these days. Generally better, but also dealing with more challenges. Life feels bittersweet sometimes.

Re: Thinking about metal
You may want to check out the Contender. It's much like the Jailbird except my device from MCN has the "high security system". It's a bolt with a through hole to accept a wire and plastic security seal. It works very well. Also I like the emotional aspect of the click as it snaps shut. I don't have to worry about the bolt coming loose. (I haven't had an issue, but someone on another forum recommended blue loctite)
Also, I am a huge fan of MCN's PA hook fixing. It holds me in place without any fear of pinching. It's very comfy. It's less invasive than a urethral tube.
Both design aspects are well thought out.

Thank you for your recommendation, however I'm fairly set on the Looker at this point. I was nervous about the urethral insert in the past but now it really appeals to me.
