Either works for us. I often don't tell him when he's going to come although he knows I rarely leave him longer than a week unless I am making a point of it - then I make him mark it on the calendar and he looks forward to it like a big kid. Apart from the odd time we have jointly decided that Bez will be locked up for a certain period he is let out when I want us to have sex, which although no set date Bez can normally work it out. I can't speak for my KH/spouse, but if she tells me I'm to remain chaste for a period of time, at the end I'm not sure she believes that I have been faithful if I've been only on the honor system.
