Chastity Documentary
Chastity Documentary
So I've been fascinated with world of Male chastity for several years now, and I was wondering what other members thought about the possibility of a Documentary made on the subject? I would love to see interviews with couples embracing the life-style from the vanilla to the extreme, whether they be straight, gay, bi, swingers, whatever. I would also like to see interviews with the device makers like the people behind the CB-X range, Steelworxx, Mature Metal, Birdlock, Dream Lover Labs, etc. Also, an interview with the writer of Be Careful What You Wish For, Sarah Jameson. How big does the interest/community need to be before a potential director would tackle something like this? Anybody else have any interest in seeing something like this come out some day? I know it probably wouldn't be the most entertaining documentary, but I have seen plenty of other subjects covered in documentaries that are a lot less provocative.

Not a good idea for individuals who have accepted chastity lifestyle.
Unlike tattoos, which are basically meant for the others to see & appreciate, chastity is purely a personal affair, practiced for various reasons. Chastity lifestyle is not perversion.
Except perverts, I don’t think individuals / couples would display their bedroom activities or chastity play on screen. I fear such documentaries would be more of pornographic films.
Those, who wish to have cheap thrills watching films on others’ chastity, should experience it by themselves & have much more pleasure.

I dunno -- seems there are enough docs out there about the bdsm scene that aren't just pervs pervin' that it could be done. I do feel like a lot of the folks who are really good interview candidates are pretty reticent about putting themselves forward about it though, so I'm not sure how far it would get...

Too often I get the impression that these documentaries are simply ways to prevent a bit of titillation in a more socially acceptable form, much in the way that soft-core porn was sold as "social research" back in the 1960s.curiouscat83 wrote: do feel like a lot of the folks who are really good interview candidates are pretty reticent about putting themselves forward about it though, so I'm not sure how far it would get...
That said, there are a handful of opportunities for you to hear about others doing this. A sociologist in Oz has a book "My Other Self", and an ongoing blog on which she interviews various alternative lifestylers (I'm on there, BTW). If you carefully search Fetlife, you'll find someone - can't remember the name - who has been doing podcast interviews with various kinksters, including those who use chastity or OD.
These interviews are not exactly meant for vanilla users, but I have a hard time imagining one that wouldn't be taken as a way to make chastity pervs seem even more pervy, or at least, downright weird.

Re: Chastity Documentary
It's an interesting idea. I'd certainly watch the documentary, but I'd be really disappointed when everyone's head is cut off or blurred in the final product. Would be rather unsatisfying.
There's something too personal about this for me to be open and talk freely about it amongst even friends and family. Personally I wouldn't mind having friends / some selected family / possibly co-workers know I was kinky or into BDSM, were that my thing. I would very much mind having the entire public know about chastity. To me, it's just too personal to reveal to anything but a very selected audience.
I can't explain it really, but chastity seems much more intimate than activities like BDSM. I think that "sub-culture" has become so widely known mainstream at this point that it doesn't seem bizarre anymore, and the kind of people who think it is bizarre and totally off-the-rocker are not the kind of people I would want to have as friends anyway. Plus, if my co-workers or boss found out about that, I could quite possibly litigate against them if anything was ever done to me that I felt was unfair and discriminatory.
With chastity, it is different, it is like I would be exposing a solemn and sacred promise between me and my wife to the whole world, and that makes me feel naked in a true way that is kind of scary. Although I have no desire to expose myself in public, I'm not afraid of public nudity, but I would be afraid of this.
I guess that's just what I want to keep private, I suppose everyone wants to keep certain things private or secret.
But I don't think it would do a great service to the chastity community to have a bunch of people like me who want their faces blurred interviewed. Not that I even feel I can answer the question, "Are you experienced?" with a yes, yet, anyways..

Agggghhhh! PLEASE, no more "reality" films!!!! Are you serious? The only reason a producer would want to produce a documentary on this topic is to exploit the lifestyle for some quick cash and short lived fame. The last thing I would ever want is for male chastity to be thrown out into the public for their viewing pleasure or criticism. I can just see the media having a field day with this one. "Just one more question Mr. Rommeny; being a Mormon and knowing that the CB male chastity devices were invented by Mormon's can you share with us your view on Male Chastity? Are you wearing a device sir?" Making a documentary on this topic serves what purpose? A book is a better idea....I don't know about you, but I'm tired of having my values exploited by the greedy....just saying....

Re: Chastity Documentary
If my wife ever found out that I contributed to a HBO like documentry and went public about our chastity lifestyle. Well let's say it would be a deal breaker. Heck she's not thrilled I blog about us.
I tell her it's only for "educational research"

Wow, those are some really good points I didn't really consider. Perhaps overall, it wouldn't be that great of an idea after-all. I guess I got too excited about it before I thought about the repercussions.
