Here's a few photos of my modifications to the CB6000. The 3 side holes on each side were letting too much skin come through and leaving awful looking "tissue bulges".
The mods were done with wax to block the holes from within the tube and then clear acrylic resin. It's pretty hard to regain the high clear shine in all the locations where the resin monomer touches, but I was able to get things perfectly smooth both inside and outside the tube.

tyty254,
Making the locking pin shorter would require cutting down the size of the spacer and then cutting down the locking pin and redrilling the lock hole. You could do this. What exactly are you trying to accomplish? I'm asking mainly because most of the time, CB users need more space to alleviate ball pain rather than less space.

Re: CB6000 Modification
No need to make it shorter, just reposition the spacers to take up slack on the other side. Then, if you change ring sizes, you can go back to a bigger gap if necessary. Shortening the pin defeats the built-in versatility of the design.

Good advice; I did the same with my CB-6000 cage. Closing those holes makes a lot of difference in comfort.
