A group edit sounds good.

David, I definitely think you should keep a daily diary. Have you started that yet? One entry every day. Ideally it would be good if you could do it at more or less the same time every day so you can reflect on the preceding 24 hours and note anything that occurred.

Also, note if you are on any medications that you take regularly. If you take something (eg, Tylenol for a headache) you should note that. If you get prescribed something (antibiotics for an infection), you should note that. Alcohol consumption would probably be important to document, since it has a depressive effect on erectile function.

You might also want to note when your wife's period starts and ends in your diary entries.

For measures, I also wanted to include Spielberger's State/Trait Anxiety Inventory and the SF-36, a measure of health related quality of life. You need to buy the STAI and I can't seem to find a "stray" copy floating around (I thought I used to have one here at the office but it appears that is not the case). If anyone has one to share...

I am also looking for a copy of the SF-36. I think there is a shorter version that might have only 11 items. David, are you up for all these questionnaires? LOL

Okay, I found something that is sort of cool.

Here's a short version of the SF-36, the SF-12. You can take a demo online and it will be scored automatically and display a summary that can be printed. It is designed to be taken monthly (it asks you to think, "during the past four weeks"). I assume you could take the demo every month--you don't have to register or anything. So David, maybe you can save this link, take the survey monthly, print out the summary sheet and add it to your diary?

I may have one in a box in the garage, I will look when I get home. Also, I would think that adding the BDI (Beck Depression Inventory) might be a good idea. I will look to see if I have one of those as well.

I thought of the Beck, that might go well with the PHQ-9.

I just found an interesting article reporting a short form 7 item measure of anxiety, also suggested to be given every two weeks. This might be easier than the STAI. Let's see if it will paste here:

Success!

So we have:

Mood - the POMS (q 2 wks)
Anxiety - 7 item GAD (q 2 wks)
Depression - 9 item PHQ and maybe the BDI (q 2wks)
Health-related quality of life - SF-12 (monthly)

plus daily diary entries. Nice mix of qualitative and quantitative data, I think.

David, are you wondering what you got yourself into? LOL.

The Beck is another one you are supposed to buy. The Hamilton Brief Assessment is available online and it will score itself:

Dev, Sally, JustplayingForFun, Jimi, others,

Yes. I am happy to fill out and provide this information. Please allow me a couple days to gather the documents and organize things in such a way that I can consistently provide them for the group. This is great stuff, I can't wait to see how everything falls together and the changes that occur as the year progresses.

How do you guys recommend I convey a diary entry? A post in this thread?

Briefly:

*Locked since the morning of Nov. 1. (photo required?)
*Orgasm via handjob on Oct. 31.
*No sex with Lisa since Oct. 31 (both home late for work)
*Things are fine with her and me. But busy last few days.
*My feeling of denial hasn't really kicked in yet--too soon after orgasm
*Since I have previously averaged about one orgasm per month for the past year, it takes a while for me to recover after orgasm.
*This project has caused some VERY strong feelings for me. I feel naked or exposed to the group, YET being embraced and helped. Sort of like being naked and examined by a doctor. I feel exposed, a little embarrassed, yet comforted knowing that those who are looking want to help and have an interest in what they are seeing (in this case information that may help their chastity experiences)
*I also have strong feelings of duty. Since we got this project going and others have already devoted effort into it, it has become far more important for me to carry it out to the best of my ability.
*To modify the phrase "be careful what you wish for", I'd say that what is most exciting or fascinating right now would be the "be careful what we discover". This study may demonstrate that there really is no need for male orgasm except for cases of procreation. What if this is the beginning of what soon becomes common knowlege--men do not need orgasms? (just wondering out loud)

Thank you all.

So far we have just heard your side of the story. Chastity is a two way street. I would love to hear Lisa's story if she would like to share.

Hello CB6000S,

I'd love for Lisa to share her thoughts as well. I hope she will chime in from time to time.

I have to say, however, that she will not likely participate in the same way that I do. She just doesn't have the "chatty" manner that I have. This may be similar to Ab and Dev. We hear a lot from Dev, but not from Ab. I suspect most couples have a wide range of interests when it comes to sharing info.

But let's hope she likes what she sees when I show her the work that is being done on her behalf.

So far there are six documents I will be keeping regular updates for--including a daily diary. So stay tuned for some real good info.

David
