When the right one comes along it’s well worth the wait. Sniffing her in is the bonus. Scent is such a powerful aphrodisiac. It’s more powerful than money and cannot be emulated. Wildlife have it all figured out.

I have always had a variety of wild meats in my freezer. Deer, moose and elk. I have experienced a lot of different ways of harvesting big game from a day trip to the mountains, camping in a Holliday trailer and staying at a friend’s farm where we could go out to the pastures in the morning and have the game hanging in the shop by lunchtime so we could catch a hockey or football game in the afternoon. That’s what I would refer to as shopping with rifles. Both my son and daughter have followed and learned to enjoy it and soon hopefully I will be able to help their sons learn and enjoy it.

My dad passed away before I took my first deer. I was there when my son took his first, it was more exciting than my first. I hope my son will be able to have the same experience.

First of the week, met my brother at the deer camp. Ate steaks and visited. He loves the week of Thanksgiving. Kids are out of school and a lot of activities at the camp. The kids will go through a 1000 rounds of 22 caliper rounds just target practicing.

Myself, I am working graveyard. Thursday, Friday and Saturday morning I came home from work and changed my cloths. Camouflage t-shirt, camouflage button down shirt, camouflage pants, camouflage pants, orange vest and orange hat. (Feeling very manly). Grabbed my John Wayne rifle and walked out to my deer stand and watch birds and squirrels eat my corn. I think the deer smell me because I smell like work

Best part of hunting in the morning, getting in your stand when it is Zero-dark-thirty, and watching the world wake up. I will be able to do this Thursday and Friday.

Got home from work this morning, changed cloths and headed out to my stand. Hunting for an 1 hour when 3 lovely doe came prancing across my lane. The had a little snack. All of a sudden, it appear that something startled them and then they pranced off.

Hey, maybe Bob buck was right behind them. WRONG, Stanley Spike step out and started eating my corn. Big mistake. I raised my gun, aimed, controlled my breathing and squeezed the trigger and ruined Stanley’s day.

Maybe we should have a forum big buck contest. The deer must be wearing a cage though.

I have a big buck that likes to hang around near my garage in the Fall, there are a couple of trails that the does like to use and he just hangs out waiting for them to come by. I have only seen him once, usually just hear him. The Mrs. saw him once, and one time he came up behind her in the dark and snorted, she just about peed herself.

Cold morning (34F) clear blue sky. I know the does are prancing this morning and Billy buck to tracking them down to have his way with them. I feel like I need to protect their innocence and virtue.

However I can’t. Wife is coming into town. Need to clean house (spend too much time deer hunting), errands to run, season my ham, get my smoker ready and find time to sleep before I have to go to work tonight.

Worked last night. Thinking about deer hunting all night. Plan, get home, change clothes in spare bedroom and slip out the door.

Reality, wife was up when I got home. Took dogs out to pee and crap, help her doctor my dog, got ready to walk out to deer stand. Neighbors dogs come by, pee on everything, get to my stand and the male neighbor dog takes a crap in my shooting lane about 20 yards from my corn.

No luck in hunting.

My daughter wanted to go hunting today. Currently sitting outside the stand with her. Cannot see anything but I hear squirrels ringing Ning around.

Friday evening. Sitting outside watching my corn pile. Tomorrow morning is muzzle loading season for 2 days. Hoping Bob buck coming walking through. I have a surprise for him.
