How long is a lock good for?
I'm in a contender 24/7 and that means 2 showers/day. So the lock is getting sprayed with water twice a day. How long before I should replace it - before I have problems with it?

The older, solid brass Master locks will last forever. Once in a while, squirting some silicone into the holes, or maybe some WD40 to clean them.
The newer, aluminum body locks can be more prone to oxidation and corrosion, but I'm assuming that the tumblers inside are still brass, so they should last for years.
I don't like the quality of the Chinese knockoff locks, like Wolfdog. But I do t use them, so couldn't tell you how long they would last.

I was told that my Master Lock would outlive me and my device. I believe it too. I have had master locks on property exposed to the elements for over 29 years and they still work. Put a drop of lubricating oil into the key hold once in awhile just to keep things moving smoothly but even if you do not, it will still last a lifetime.

I've used the same small "kasp" lock for near 5 years and hundreds of showers. But not sure I would recommend any extended ocean swimming without some good cleaning/lubing afterwards.
Locked since 4-19-11. Currently in an MM PT for over two years.

Salt from the ocean can clog up a lock's mechanism. I had to replace the lock on my Holy Trainer. The key wouldn't go in far enough and it took a power drill to remove it. Usually WD40 will free up a padlock, but not Holy Trainer magic lock, even after three days of WD40 applications.
