Jailbird A-ring sizing?

I have read advice here regarding the size of the A-ring on a jailbird be as tight enough so that a person can just put one finger under the ring up to the first knuckle. I am wondering if it is possible to have the ring this size, but actually have the ring too small.

I recently wore my Jailbird for two weeks straight, during the first week when I am flaccid or in the shower cleaning, I can push one finger under the ring further than the first knuckle, so one would think that the ring is still a little too large. However during the second week, two things started happening.

1. I started to feel like the whole device was sliding down and putting more pressure on the back of the testicles. At times felt kind of like a burning feel (mainly when I was very warm and sweating)
2. I started to see red rub marks where the ring was riding behind my balls and on the side behind the ring. It was getting pretty sensitive.

I am looking for advice as to why the device seems to fit so nicely at first, but then after some wearing time it starts putting more pressure on the balls and starts getting very sensitive behind the ring, and what could be done to stop this. Is it sized wrong? Is the gap wrong?

With the looseness/sliding it sounds to me that your body is getting accustomed to the device. Many people report this happening to them. When this happens you need a one size smaller ring.

The redness/soreness could be from the base ring moving around.

Unfortunately, you will need to send the device back for this. That's why you'll frequently see it recommended to order the smaller ring when you initially order the device.

I have wondered if this is the case, but it is not so loose it really slides around. In fact it seems tight except when I am really truly flaccid or in the shower. It is such a mind game, I get almost scared to try a smaller ring.

I also feel like I change sizes down there depending on mood, etc. Some days it seems really tight, then some days not so much. Is this normal?

I also have worn a Steelworx Looker 2 and it has a smaller diameter ring, but the ID of the stainless steel bar it is made out of is a larger ID and I never had this problem. I was surprised at the small ID of the Jailbird. I wonder if the double ring would also help with these problems. I like the ability of the Jailbird to keep clean and lower profile.

Anyone have experience with going to a double ring after having a single ring?

It sounds like it could be a gap issue if you are experiencing some burning on the underside of your sack. Also, are you using some sort of lube? As your balls get used to having the device it will fall a little forward... If it's too much and you can fit two fingers under the base ring you may need a slightly smaller ring. If you still only fit one finger (at normal flaccid - not in the shower etc) then the ring size itself is probably fine.

I suggest checking the gap and make sure you are using lube. The ring could be pulling on the skin or rubbing and causing issues, especially during attempted erection, if you aren't lubed a little. After awhile you might need less lube when you're body is used to having the device on.

Also if you didn't have issues with the thicker base ring of the other device you might think about a double base ring from Mature Metal.

I've found whilst wearing the JailBird that it varies, day to day. Also, the dimension variations between perfect and painful can be very small.

Overnight I never feel the JailBird is there, but during the day I sometimes find the whole thing has rotated a few degrees, I suspect because the padlock provides more resistance to rotation one way over the other. Also, I occasionally experience the burning sensation.

I found that, for me, lubrication was a bad idea, in fact I recall the tears on pain when one testicle slipped through the gap. I was able to cure this by bending the post on the A ring slightly, to narrow the gap, or rather, to even it out. But the change in position is almost indiscernable.

So I suspect there is no simple cure, get as near to the correct sizing and accept the day-to-day, week-to-week variation. Only when it goes in a distinct direction is it worth doing anything about it. Though you guys in the US don't have to add about six weeks mimimum (postal time) to a re-work - makes me more determined to find my own solutions.

I can get my finger under the ring but not up to the knuckle. When they had me test I was told to stick my finger under the ring where it connects to the cage. I have two rings and both have been resized for a nominal cost. I use a 1/78" ring, the same as with my other devices, with a 1/2" gap. I like their oval ring better than the round. There are times that my testicles try to retreat and it gets a little tight for an hour until they relax again but that is it. If I go an eight of an inch larger, I fall out if I bend over. My ring is extremely comfortable now. I was using a ring an eight of an inch smaller that I could get a finger tip under but when I swelled up, it felt like my scrotum was being strangled and it was very uncomfortable. I had to send my Jailbird back twice to get it perfect and it was worth it.

If you are having rotation issues that could be an uneven gap. Especially if it always rotates the same way. We had a rotation issues once because the top gap (which should be smaller than the bottom) was too large. It was an easy thing for MM to fix and ask it cost me was postage.

You might want to check your measurements. I think over time, with wear things can loosen up.
