replacement padlock for JB

Hi

I currently use a master padlock on my JB but my KH complains of sharp edges and corners. I thought I might be able to just cut off the plastic coating and file off the corners of the metal but its actually really ugly one the plastic is off. I thought it would be shiny brass or steel.

I was looking for an abus brass lock which should be easier to round off the corners on and being solid brass, will look good too. My only problem is I cant find a hardware shop near me that sells them. I can find them on line but cant inspect to make sure its the right size. Can anyone tell me the model they use?

Does anyone know of a retail chain that sells Abus. We are on an extend trip around the US is an RV so receiving packages is a problem.

Not sure where you are but my local True Value Hardware store carries them. I see where they are all over the USA.

Why not just buy a Master Lock 140D?

I have a plastic covered Master Lock that works well or I did file down the edges of our first lock (with a regular nail file) and wrapped it in colored electrical tape.

Lady M, the problem with electrical tape is the adhesive will start to dissolve when wet and ooze a sticky mess. I don't know if you're aware of it but there's stuff called "heat shrink tubing".

You want to get a size that is larger than the diameter of the object you want to seal. The tubing will normally shrink half of its listed size. Cut it to a little longer than you want and slide it over the lock. Then take a hair dyer on high and apply the air to the tubing. The tubing will shrink to about half it's original size conforming to the contours that it's being shrunk around.

That would be awesome! We actually had no issues with the adhesive becoming gross and hubby wore it all the time in showers and everything. I'm sure there are other options but for a cheap ass like me who needed a solution to the noise and sharpness, it worked!
