The cage I have in my contender is slightly tight. I can get in it when not aroused, but I have to push & pull. And I fill the cage, but only go up a bit around the bars. If I get a diameter 1/8" more, then I'll clearly be a bit loose in it.
There's no discomfort with the slightly tight, it's just a bit of a pain getting it back in there.
Which is better?

Personally, and ive been into this 7 years + now starting with a cb 6000, Chinese cheap, PA-5000 (shite, but watch this space) Looker 03 and now make my own, but snug rather than loose works for me but I have an 8mm/0 gauge PA to contend with too!!

Use the stocking method to get into the cage. That works great.
