There is an interesting piece of science that I read about somewhere (can't remember where) that says that everybody's blood pressure increases a short while before sunrise. It happens always, even if the person is in a completely blacked out room, complete darkness. My understanding is that nobody can explain why it happens.
Maybe it explains the 5am phenomenon? I get them same by the way, although it was even earlier this morning, about 4:30 I think.
I have 3x HoD cages too, all use the same hinged ring. I think they're pretty good quality and good value. Damned effective too.

I thought I read where morning wood was from REM sleep. I went years with undiagnosed sleep apnea. No morning wood and exhausted all the time. Put on an apnea machine and two things happened. I woke with wood and my whole body needed a morning stretch.
Once I went into the 2cm stubby nub I found myself sleeping on my stomach. I think I was trying to find myself in my sleep. The odd result was I couldn’t wear the mask and I don’t suffer from apnea on my stomach. No machine for almost a year now.
I say all this because recently I have been having wood more often at night and sleeping better than ever.
Now I have four cages as the sizes have steped down over time she's numbered them 1 ro 4, from flat to 4.5cms, all so she just has to give me a number and i have to change. She says the beauty of this is that she can mention a number in front of anyone and I know what I have ahead of me when we get home.
In the last 24 hours she been testing it , I've been in 1, 3 and 1 again (which she made me put on whilst swollen after getting close to a ruin), then I've been unlocked overnight so I can look forward to a 1 when she gets up, she seems to like the flat she bought.

Went away for the night at short notice and although she told me to unlock I was to take No 1 (the flat) with me 'just in case' but in my pocket. On returning home I had to do the same, then lock up again.
