Sounds used for this are very round and smooth, and come in a variety of sizes. A set of them will start with small diameters and increase gradually. Using the small ones should cause no discomfort with some lubrication, and can be an interesting sensation.
Should you decide to experiment with something *other* than a set of sounds, don't use anything pointy or having sharp edges, or of a material that could break or splinter. The urethra is extremely sensitive and easily injured...just ask anyone who has passed a kidney stone .

As someone who had two surgeries on his Urethra and one on his anus due to things being inserted there, I do not recommend it. Keep in mind that more post about doing things than actually do them so do not let the internet sway your good judgment.

Thanks TwistedMister and Len51. I think I can safely say, that my urethra will stay in tact for quite a while yet as I do not have the courage or the inclination to put anything in it! My post trauma from catheterisation will protect me

I like Alba non-petroleum jelly, primarily because it's not synthetically made. It has beeswax in it, and doesn't wash away as easily as water based lubricants.
