Maybe I've been living dangerously for all these years but I know a bolt cutter will have the padlock off in a flash.

I have HT2 so bolt cutter is not an option. I could destroy the cage real fast or drill the lock but need to buy the special ht2 lock. So I have the key but cannot use it without kh being able to tell. Has worked well for us so far.

The ribbon idea is something my wife and I came up with. Basically, it ensures that hubby can't back out of his device without you knowing. I can tell you that unless he gets a piercing, he is really just on the honor system with his device. The ribbon idea gives you peace of mind, and makes the game more real for the husband. I have since found that a wooden popsicle stick helps with tucking everything back into the cage after you tie the ribbon on. Also, my wife likes to write little messages on the ribbon instead of just signing her name. She has written things like .....

For the first few months, she had both keys hidden in the house. We both worried about an emergency causing me to need to unlock without her around. Our solution was pretty inexpensive and, absolutely easy for her to detect. We bought a pill container at Walgreens. I ordered some tamper-resistant, serial-numbered labels on Amazon ($10 for 100). The emergency key is in the container on my keychain. If I access it, the seal will be broken and she will know. The fact is that I won't unlock myself without permission or an emergency that absolutely requires it. Even uncaged, I won't get myself off. There has to be some trust. I recently got some heat shrink tubing that goes around the container. The seal is under the tubing. I was having a problem with the cap working itself off and the seal getting loose on my container.

My wife carries one of the keys on her and let me have access to the second key in case of emergency. However, I got tempted a few times and since then I only get access to the second key at night as I am not used to sleeping locked yet.
