I bought a Jailbird back in 2012. I could not wear it any length of time without intense burning. I sent it back 6 times to get it adjusted without any luck. Bill of Mature Metal told me I was his only customer who couldn't wear the Jailbird without pain. I don't know about that. The last adjustment I made was to have the A ring made into a double ring. Didn't do any good. Bill suggested I stretch my ball sack. One time I forced myself to wear it for 12 hours and when I took it off it looked like I had first degree burn on my ball sack where the A ring was. It's a shame because I really like the looks of the Jailbird and Mature Metal was very quick to make the adjustments I wanted.

Have you been able to wear any other stainless steel devices? It's rare, but you could be having a skin reaction to one of the alloy components.

After not being able to wear the Jailbird for any length of time, we bought the CS-100. I can wear it a little longer, but still get the burning and I got a nice big sore on my sack. For awhile, I used some vinyl tubing on the security bow of the CS-100, so I didn't have any contact with the stainless steel. Also, I had the CB2000 and had the same intense burning with it. Bill of Mature Metal was probably right when he said I need to stretch my ball sac. I now have a Steelworxx device on order with the anatomical ring option. Hoping this helps.

If you're curious about it being a reaction to the metal or not, you can brush on clear fingernail polish to coat the SS before wearing it. It's not really a viable solution but it may provide invaluable information in your quest.

Q: Were you using any lubricant on the device? If I don't wear anything at all, I can get a sore spot from a simple friction rub of the device against the bottom of my ball sack - which sounds a lot like what you are describing. A heavy ointment works best for me when I know I'm going to be either sitting in a car for a long time, or particularly mobile... strangely enough, the regular day to day doesn't seem to be an issue.

I use A&D Ointment, its very heavy and lasts a good long while. I used to use baby oil gel, but that tended to get a bit messy over time, particularly when it was hot - and here in South Florida there is plenty of heat.

Yes, I've used Baby Oil Gel, just Baby Oil, silicone lube and Goldbond. I've also not used any kind of lube, but it seems to not make a difference. I will try some A&D Ointment to see if that helps. Thanks for the tips.
