MM JB padlock.

Post by HornyHutch »

Is it worth ordering a padlock from MM when I order my jailbird? Are they sized to fit the jailbird or will any padlock do?

You can just get your own... we had some but also went and bought a couple others. I can't remember the dimensions of the lock part that makes it fit right but if you ask MM they can tell you. The lock should sit sideways and be snug in the hole. Two locks at Wal-Mart was like $5 here in NY lol so it's not that expensive to get one. :)

I've got a couple of padlocks from other devices. Probably a safe bet that one of them will fit. I didn't know if they were size specific or not. Cheers for the help (again!).

They are inexpensive and available at most hardware stores.

Not sure if the Masterlock from MM is any different from the ones at Wallyworld. Just know that mine from MM appears to be brass and has been immersed many times, some in saltwater(rinsed afterwards), and it still works fine. Doesn't look pretty, but still functional.

I think it's a 3/4" lock (language lock works good)
You can get a two pack at wal-mart for around $8
They sell the same all brass ones as MM or you can get ones with a rubber coating it you are worried about noise.
Good luck

The brass lock that came with my CB6000 worked fine with my MM JB.

The MM website says they use a 3/4" V line lock, but when i checked the master lock website i found there were a ton of locks that seemed to fit in that category. i asked MM for clarification on the correct lock for my JB their reply was: "The master lock that we use is 120D series. It is designed to sit sideways giving a tighter lock so the ring does not swivel. The package says the distance of the lock to shank is 7/16 or 11mm." i assume they use the same lock across all their devices.
Sincerely,
