Looker 01/02: size vs comfort

Post by marq »

Maybe it's better to start my own thread rather than tagging onto someone else's... and in any case I'm already changing my thoughts a bit, thanks to kpb57's helpful advice regarding 01 and 02 for cut and uncut men respectively.

I have a Looker 01, bought second-hand on this forum, which I'm using to test-drive the device and also get a better idea of sizing. But actually I am still undecided! Because, whilst it is on the large side, it is also supremely comfortable, like nothing else I've ever tried. When I come to ordering my own Looker 01, I'm probably going to need to have it both shorter and narrower, but with a fixed, 8mm plug (with 10mm ball). The question is, how much shorter and narrower should the cage be, and what about the base ring, before comfort is compromised? (On the other hand, reducing the cage size should allow more movement in my pants and especially on the bike saddle and in swimming trunks, so it will increase comfort in some ways anyway.)

So, my questions to current owners of a Looker 01 (or 02) who are happy with their fit:
1. When you are really 'at rest', how much excess length is there in the cage (how much of the plug is visible, if ever any)? Do you think the ideal would be to have none even 'at rest'?
2. And how much space is there between your skin and the side bars of the cage when 'at rest'?
3. In the device I have now, at the most swollen my skin only just touches the bars of the cage, never bulging beyond them. When attempting an erection, how much do you bulge around the bars, and how painful is that?
4. What is the largest space possible between the base ring and the cage ring on your device?

Since the cage is significantly larger than I need, I was assuming the base ring was also too large. But it occurs to me that at best I can only get a couple of fingers into the space, and at times it is completely filled. So perhaps it is the right size? I don't understand how I would know if the base ring is too large... nor what causes it to become too large after a while of wearing, as I've seen described on these forums. Can anyone help me to understand this better? Or is it simply that the fit really is as good as it feels? (But will that change if I get a smaller cage?)

So many questions! Thanks in advance very much for your help!

My Looker 02 leaves no space when I'm flaccid, and the plug is completely inside me. I can get a little "air" just behind the cap if I pull the cage away from my body, something I do when cleaning.
The bars of the cage are always in contact with my penis.
When I attempt an erection, most of it unfolds to the back, and the bars are pressed into the skin, which leaves some marks, but is not really painful.

Thanks, kpb57, that's very helpful to know (other users please post as well - it's great to compare experiences!).

Out of interest, kpb57, what are the measurements for your base ring, and cage ring/diameter?

I noticed that you mentioned in your review that night-time wake-ups were painful. Mine are not - in fact I've done four out of five nights without waking up at all - in this too-large Looker 01, so I'm just trying to work out how much I can reduce things before introducing that unwanted pain.

I also noticed that you are one of those who have written about the correct base ring size decreasing after a period of wearing this sort of device. What is the negative effect of having a too-large base ring, and how long do you think I should wait to ensure my size needs have stabilized?

Thanks again! :)

Base ring is 42mm (anatomical), cage diameter is 35mm, overall length 70mm.

I think that my nocturnals work a little different from others, the don't stop when the cage presses down, instead I wake up when I'm already quite hard with most of the erection happening in the penis root, stretching the scrotum out. At that moment it takes some effort to calm things down.

I do have the impression, though, that things are getting better now, so it may be that the Looker needs a different kind of adaptation compared to other devices.
