Steelworxx Looker 2 Impressions

Post by kpb57 »

First: it looks great. Craftsmanship is superb, no edges, everything is smooth and polished. When the cage is mated with the ring, there is that "clicking" feeling that it snaps in where it belongs. The integrated lock is another fine visual aspect.
Then: it feels great. It is easy to install (as long as the plug is removed). The anatomic ring fits smoothly where it's supposed to sit, the cage captures the penis nicely. Thanks to the cap, only very small parts of skin can protrude through the small holes, minimizing the danger of pinching. Good for people with intact foreskin. The small size makes it very easy to wear under clothing, rarely if ever do the pants exert pressure on penis and balls by twisting the cage.
The plug: this is where one needs to get used to. Inserting takes some effort at first. Pushing the "ball" end through the narrowing of the urethra right behind the glans can be a little painful ("burning" sensation), but after that obstacle is passed, the plug glides in quite smoothly, even without additional lubrication. While wearing, one notices the presence of the plug during the first days, but with time the plug is only noticed at times when bending down or making similar moves. The plug can be closed with a little cap screw when bathing etc.
Security: without the plug, pullout is easy as in any other ball-trap device. With the plug, escape is very difficult, if possible at all; reinsertion is IMO virtually impossible. For those who still want more, the plug can me made longer so that it extends 40mm beyond the base ring.

Suggestions for those interested:
Order the Looker after you have worn another device for some time, so you don't have to deal with a base ring that becomes to large to soon.
Take your measurement as described on the steelworxx website, and don't hesitate to err on the small side.
Rather make the cage wider than longer.
Order the removable plug, if your SO likes to play with you caged, the plug can become painful during attempted erections (double pressure on the penis from the inside and outside).
Be prepared that the nocturnals can be a challenge at first. At first I had two nights where I HAD to take it off in order to get some sleep.

As usual, nighttime gets better after some getting used to. But be prepared to get up to relieve your bladder and calm things down. The combination of cage and plug is much more restricting, therefore care must be exercised in measuring for the base ring, or you may have to face a "runaway" erection that calls for a (large!) bolt cutter.

The plug is really much less a problem than most fear. No sign of any infection or damage. Insertion gets easier with every time it's done.

What has to be said, though, is that residual urine stays in the cap and causes smell over the day. Make sure to dry as much away with toilet paper after pissing, and put some folded toilet paper over the tip of the cage so that late drops will be caught. This is where circumcised men will be better off with the Looker 01. A full bath evey evening will help.

If you don't use the plug, how messy is urination? Do you think the device would be practical for daily wear without the plug? I like the look and design of the Looker, but neither of us (esp. my wife) are enamored with the idea of me wearing a plug.

edit: though after re-reading Thumpers Looker 2 reviews, not so sure I'm opposed to trying one with the plug.

@HeldForHer:

It is possible to pull the foreskin back and get it back into position, so you can clean yourself there while taking a shower/bath (bath recommended, so you can really "soak" in it).
I have the standard 6mm plug with 8mm "ball" (it's actually more of an ovoid).

@danj :

Urination, at least for me, is "messy". It usually looks like a watering can :) Only sitting down is possible.
Without the plug would not be different, because the center hole is not as large as the one in, say, the CB6k.
It may be different for people who manage to get everything out through the plug, with me most gets out around the plug. With the larger 8mm/10mm plug, things may be considerably different.

As said, the plug itself is not what you imagine it to be. Try to experiment by putting something smooth and clean up your urethra. You may like the feeling ...
The first time I experienced this was when after gettting local anaesthesia, I was not able to empty my bladder at all, and had to get a catheter. No pain, just a funny feeling. Before ordering the Looker, I experimented with a piece of metal, which reduced my concerns.

In addition to all my Looker questions on the "advice on ordering" thread, one direct response to your very helpful thoughts. Do I understand correctly that you think a Looker 01, not 02, would be better for circumcised men? I thought the cap was supposed to protect the more sensitive exposed flesh? Do you think it is actually less preferable then?

For me, the cap is just a protection of my foreskin against pinching; I had that happen repeatedly with the Desire.
Since the glans of a circumcised man must already be used to all the contact with underwear, you don't need any kind of protection, and there is no "loose" skin that gets itself into trouble. So I would recommend the more open design of the Looker 01, which makes hygiene that easier. I would even suggest trying steelworxx's Double Cockring with the longer plug.
