Is it a sign that your device doesn't fit well if the skin under the ring on the back of your balls is always getting sore?
It's not a breaking in period issue. I've ran into the same issue with 3 devices. It really takes a lot of the fun out of being locked. I'd like to be able to wear the device without having to take it off so often and it's starting to really annoy me.
Any ideas or tips?

What lube are you using?

The short answer is, probably not. After I had been wearing for a while, I had the goal of eventually not using any lube at all. However, when I changed to a smaller base ring, I started to have some discomfort in the same area you describe. Initially, I tried to just tough it out until I got used to the smaller ring since it was more comfortable and secure overall. The result was a couple of raw areas. Once they healed and I was relocked, I decided not to try and be a tough guy and use some lube whenever it was needed. Only a small amount and only in needed areas. Sometimes I need it, sometimes not, but I try to catch the discomfort before it get too far. Aveeno moisturizing lotion works great for me. I may use a small dab around the bottom of the base ring as often as twice a day. Massage it into the skin well with your finger. Cooler ( and dryer) weather also tends to worsen this issue.Barons wrote:Is it a sign that your device doesn't fit well if the skin under the ring on the back of your balls is always getting sore?

Aveeno works great for me too. Applied usually twice a day. Once after morning shower and once before bed.

I think this is the key. Don't get stuck with just doing one thing because you have always done it. I have had discomfort relieved but stopping something as often as by starting something else. Also, just because something didn't work once (for one problem) doesn't mean it won't work for something else. Oh, and one more thing - look at the whole situation to find a solution. Sometimes when I have discomfort on the right side I need to make an adjustment to the left side to correct it. The more I screw around with the right side the worse it might get.wishful4 wrote:Only a small amount and only in needed areas. Re: Sore skin on back of the balls
I "upgraded" from a home-built that had a polypropylene base ring (never had a soreness issue with it) to a MM Jailbird that arrived in January. Longest I've worn it continuously has been about 10 days due to travel for work - Mrs. KHH has to take it off for airport metal detectors.
In any case, I now have an oval base ring that is the same diameter as my original home built. Don't know if you're this way, but my scrotum expands and contracts many times over the course of a normal day, due to temperature variations. I'm usually "tightest" when I wake up in the morning, and "loosest" in the evening.
I've also experienced some soreness with my new base ring, and found that it was completely due to the ring not being able to slide back and forth freely as my scrotum expands and contracts. Remedy? Simple - as with the other replies, a tiny bit of lotion (I just use my wife's hand lotion which is quite handy as it's already in the bathroom) when I get out of the shower in the morning, and then again whenever I feel a bit of pulling or tightness with the base ring. I've never needed to do it more than twice, and most days just need to do it once. With the oval ring, I rub a bit of lotion wherever the ring contacts skin, and extend the area both forward and backward so the ring has plenty of "lubricated" area to freely move back and forth.
Simple solution, works great
. I don't think my base ring is too small, with the use of the lotion, I am completely comfortable and - most of the time - hardly notice that I'm even wearing my JB (until mama gets around me and I start "expanding" that is....).
