I use Spiral steel cage (profile picture) with post welded on the ring. Before sex when my wife unlocks me, mu dick is so enlarged & hard that removing the ring is out of question. So I simply turn the ring 180 degrees so that the post goes below the scrotum. Then penetration is no problem. In fact with the ring on, my dick performs far better.

I have a steel cage, its prolly not as nice as some of you others. Its just something i got from ebay "cheap" I hope to get something better eventually. the prices are too expencive for me at this time. My device is too heavy and a bit to big for me. Makes for brutal wearing lemme tell ya. Ive give it plenty of fair chance for me to get used to it. Its not a solid ring it is hinged at the bottom with the eyelettes meeting at the top for the cage to fit over then the lock is applied. because of its design i had to use a rubber O ring around the two eyelettes to keep them from seperating then closing and causing a pinch area during regular wear. It cannot be slept in, well it can but theres a good chance i'll wake up very sorry i tried. I guess it was okay for a quick jump in and try it out kindve thing. the jailbird looks to be the best i think. because of the weight of my device ive becomne interested in the light weight plastic devices more than my first thoughts that plastic was toys compared to a steel "real" thing. I do like the idea mentioned above about the solid ring used along with the non-fixed ring. not sure how that will work out for me.
