MM Security Screw question

Post by Shoe Slave88 »

As best as I can tell the Mature Metal security screw it's just a normal screw with a unique head so that your average screw driver cannot be used to take it off. My fear is that with the movement of the cage during everyday wear, I'm afraid that the screw might become loose over time. Has anyone ever heard of the screw loosening or falling out overtime?

This has been discussed before. *If* it occurs, there are various solutions such as a drop of clear nail polish or Loctite (not the 'permanent' kind). Clear nail polish prevents the screws from backing out on my SS .44mag snubnose so, unless you beat on the thing with a big hammer, it should work on a MM cage too.

I'm definitely going to get the security screw soon. My fiance hates the lock scratching her when we cuddle and such. Thanks for the replies.

Twisted Mister, my apologies for the repetitious post. I've only been on this site for 3 days and I haven't had time to scan the 1000+ topic posts in this thread

No apology necessary, I was just indicating that others have had the same issue and various solutions have been proposed.

You might find it helpful to use the search feature though, which will let you see other discussions and some of the solutions that may not get posted here. ;)

Where do you put the drop of clear nail polish? Just on the small tip of thread that sticks out of the end, at the base of the screw's head or along the entire thread of the screw?

Head of the screw. LOL, if you coat the threads you might be in there longer than planned...

Yes it can and it's a known (though not too common) issue and if it happens contact MM as they can have a workaround.

TM - Thanks for the info and the laugh. I have zero experience with nail polish, and that is what I was afraid of so appreciate the advice.
